Good for Audie. It's about time.

Audie Cole - LB - Vikings

Audie Cole will remain the Vikings' starting middle linebacker going forward.

Filling in for Erin Henderson (personal) over the last two weeks, Cole has performed extremely well while racking up 22 tackles and one sack. Henderson is now back, but will move to the weak side.

I'll second, or is it 3rd? 4th? AD's improved blitz pick up. He's done incredibly well this year. I don't think he's made the same strides as a pass catcher, I won't say he CAN'T catch the ball, but it's by far the weakest part of his game now.

Very sad to see our draft picks getting picked up on other teams while we keep a charlie johnson around. He really is bad enough in my opinion that even a young guy with little experience wouldn't be much of a difference.

Yeah this move was so obvious not even Frazier could miss that one after SEEING it play out on the field. This should be a good change as it also means Marvin Mitchell see's the bench. It's great to see cole step up because early on I thought we could possibly use THREE new LB's but as of right now I think we could get away with only one with as much as we run the nickel.

LMFAO.

So this couldn't have been done week one when Desmond Bishop still had a healthy knee? Bishop in the middle and Henderson at weak side should have the lineup from DAY ONE.

Whatever. I am glad Audie gets a chance the rest of the year.

This seemed like a good thread for the link below. The story is about Erin Henderson but it's also about the MLB position:

Henderson wasn't Plan A at MLB

I think most of us knew Henderson wasn't Plan A and it seems like the draft didn't quite go the way the coaches expected.

Game Ball: Chad Greenway. Greenway revealed postgame that he's been playing the last month with a fractured wrist. On Sunday, he played all but two snaps of another overtime game and looked just fine before Sendejo and Forte's helmets collided on his wrist on the last drive in overtime. Greenway finished with three tackles for losses and a sack and did not miss a tackle after he personally missed four in the tie at the Green Bay Packers last week. Greenway also did not allow a reception to the Bears' 6-foot-6-inch tight end Martellus Bennett. Honorable mention for Audie Cole, who missed one too many tackles to earn this spot.

Thanks for the link. I think most of us suspected he wasn't Plan A. It will be interesting how Cole finishes the season. It'd be great not to have to enter the draft needing a high-round MLB (instead using that on a QB, CB).

It would but as Ben Goessling pointed out, Cole may be benefitting a bit from not being a very scouted player. It will be interesting to see if he can sustain and build on his early success once teams have more film on him. It has definitely been a pleasant surprise to see him step in and play well!

The re-adjustment period for Cole will be telling on more than Cole IMO. If shows that he can continue his high level of play after teams attempt to adjust to him, then it will beg the question of why he didn't start until EH was facing personal/legal issues.

I know this is self fulfilling and too early to tell, but I believe there is pattern of this during Frasier's tenure as HC. Time will tell.

Probably because he doesn't practice well...

Last Friday, Frazier said Josh Robinson would start over Rhodes w healthy. Today, DC Williams said it's "wait and see," nothing concrete yet
Maybe they have a little bit of a clue after all.

Hahahahahaha. Oh, the pathetic ineptitude of this team never ceases to amaze me. Clearly, Lesile is the calling the personnel shots on game day - as one can see who has a 'hard on' for. Why Xavier Rhodes wouldn't start... there is no good reason.

But hey, at least they will have to active Josh this week right? Unless they really feel like Joe can come in for Matt if needed!

Fraizer is a complete idiot. Unless he is hoping the ravens will practice, hoping for Robinson, and then sneak in Rhodes, but I doubt it. My lord, what a clown. I suppose he wants to start Erin over Cole too?

Among CFL players reportedly working out for the Vikings last week was Calgary CB Chris Randle. Vikings might need a corner this week.

Matt Cassel has been named the starter for this week's game against the Eagles.

The Vikings replaced DT Spencer Nealy with RB Bradley Randle on the practice squad. I'm a little surprised they haven't promoted Joe Banyard to the active roster. So they must expect Toby Gerhart to play this Sunday. Surely they wouldn't go into a game with Jerome Felton as their only healthy ball carrier.

Any word yet on bringing back Harrison Smith? Apparently he's been practicing, but I would have expected him to have been brought back by now if they planned on playing him against the Eagles. If they don't bring him back this season it may be for the best, but they'll have wasted their one IR-DFR slot for the season.
