Re: Twins 2011
And another futile attempt at baseball by Ron Gardenhire's Twins on the east coast.

Re: Twins 2011
TWO STRAIGHT!!!!
if we win today will that be our first sweep of the year? i know we have won three in a row once this year (that was even sadder as i typed it) but i can't recall if it was three in a sweep or not. either way i'm up for small victories. we are currently dead last in nearly every batting category! but i still feel if we can somehow, some way start taking 2 of 3 in the majority of our series that we can claw back in the race. if we can get to 7-9 games back by the all star game and get guys healthy....i still like our chances.
gotta say though, going into this season, i never would have thought it would be our bats costing us game after game after game. i'm actually not to disappointed in our pitching so far....

I agree. While our pitching has had off days, its definatley the Twins bats that are letting them dowm, in a BIG way IMO. Unfortunately, they have dug themselves such a deep hole, the post season is fairy tale IMO, which isnt a big deal, with Guardy as the manager we would be one and done anyways. I swear, if there was a way to lose a best of 7 in 2, Guardy would figure it out in the playoffs.

Re: Twins 2011

ya i admit i am being overly optimistic in regards to making the playoffs. but we are just so unhealthy right now....part of me thinks that is we can tread water till we get everyone back in form that maybe we can make a little push. we basically haven't had morneau as he just hasn't looked the same. i think nishioka could be a good one and he's still out a couple more weeks. no thome now either which hurts. and having mauer out basically all season obviously has killed us.
right now we have the second to last batting average in baseball....and we are dead last in slugging, on base percentage, and runs! that is 29th, 30th, 30th, and 30th.

we get healthy, start hitting the ball, and who knows what can happen.
i agree with you about gardy in the post-season. he needs to find a way to get it done. that said, i can't fault him yet THIS SEASON for our struggles as injuries and horrendous batting is what is losing us games....not him. but we have been fully healthy in the post season and still always lose in the first round. that needs to change or he needs to go....

Re: Twins 2011
well...there was our sweep! 11 runs on 16 hits. been a long time since we've seen that kind of offense. now the diamondbacks. we should be able to take them too. 3 straight....let's make it FOUR!

"Should have" taken them last night. Now there is a game the pitching did let us down. If the Twins score 7, they need to win those games, especially this year when the bats have been terrible.

Re: Twins 2011
agreed. that was brutal. looked good through 6 but come the 7th the wheels really fell off. with our batting the way it is, any game where we score even 5 runs are must wins because our 5 runs are like most teams 10 runs!

i'm ready for a beer.

Now once we start scoring a few runs, the pitching takes an enormous ####.

Re: Twins 2011
Can't fault the pitching on Sunday, offense was anemic again. When the offense finally scores= sucky pitching. When pitching is good=sucky offense. I was at the game on Saturday and when the twins had the 6-3 lead I turned to the nearest D-back fan and said "Don't worry, we'll blow this lead somehow"
Sure enough, we lost 9-6

Re: Twins 2011
So, it is apparently evident that we are going nowhere this season, and really, this is a great time to trade some players to contenders, get rid of some salaries, and get our farm system back to par a little.
Who should we look to move? Delmon Young? Michael Cuddyer? Justin Morneau? Joe Nathan?
I would like to see Young, Nathan, maybe Blackburn traded. Cuddyer does such a good job as a backup to Morneau, I don't know if it is a good idea to trade him or not.
What do you guys think?

Re: Twins 2011
Delmon for sure. Other than him, I really can't say. Morneau, absolutely not. I don't think you can get rid of Cuddy either, he's too popular with his teammates as well as the fans. Maybe Valencia? I've heard lately that the team is starting to sour on him because apparently he's got a punk attitude.
I would say get rid of Capps before Nathan. Nathan has crap trade value right now and I think he'll regain his form, so might as well unload Capps to get something decent.
I think it's inevitable that Slowey will get dealt.

Want a secure job? Apply with hapless Twins
There are times when Reusse annoys me, but today he is spot on. The Twins have the worst team in the majors. They are in more of a mess than the Timberwolves. The front office and coaching staff is putrid. They suck. I hate Gardenhire more than I hat Brad Childress. Gardy doesn't ask his players to be men, he is ok with them hurting their vaginas and not playing for a couple of weeks.
Man-up you #### retards. You're men, paid millions of dollars, start acting like it.

I honestly think Guardy is one of the most over rated coahes/managers in all of pro sports. He is absolutely horrible IMO. How he won manager of the year is totally beyond me. I would rather Childress coach the Vikings for a century than Guardy be allowed to manage another season, he is the worst in baseball, by a mile IMO. Look at Slowey, he isnt happy as a reliever so he pushed Guardy around, he has no balls. Delmon Young, needs to be traded too. Once healthy (if they are really even hurt) it would be nice to see what an actual manager could do with this roster. I missed very few games last season, but this year, until Guardy is gone, I dont care if I watch another one, he is just a wind bag living off his past hype that he "gets more from less than any manager in MBL" BS. He is no longer doing that, not that I think he ever really did. Over hyped wind bag assmunch, needs to go.
