Under Zimmer, there's clearly a tendency to draft for size and athleticism and then develop, develop, develop. Alexander doesn't quite fit the "size; part but I'm speaking more generally here. Anyway, I'm guessing that's why the Vikes would rather have Stephen than Scooby.
Also, it isn't just the Vikings who have been passing on Scooby.

Ditto. Kapp, your take is spot on. These are the kinds of guys we SHOULD go for in the 6th and 7th.

Nice, we just got Jayron Kearse S Clemson

I'm surprised people are excited by the Kearse pick. I'll be surprised if he amounts to much at the next level.

Well, that's a wrap for the 2016 Vikings draft, folks. Rookie free agents: stay by your phones. Rick Spielman and Mike Zimmer may be callin' soon.

I'm hoping they sign Trevone Boykin.

BTW, I was the guy pulling for Dawson last year... I follow TCU football, so it's an automatic impulse to hope they end up with the Vikings.

PFF had a 4th round grade on him so you never know.

Well Cleveland just got probably one of the steals of the draft... Scooby Wright is a beast.

Well it's Cleveland so they'll find a way to ruin him like they do everybody else

Via PFF
23 (244) Minnesota Vikings: Jayron Kearse, S, Clemson
Jayron Kearse is a player that PFF had a fourth-round grade on, and was actually the best-graded player in the Clemson secondary this past season. He had solid grades against both the run and pass and even featured on the blitz, posting the fourth-best pass rushing productivity among safeties in this class for his work on the blitz. Very solid selection for the Vikings this low down at safety.
