I still haven't said I would. Just that I might. Tough choices. It could easily cost both picks to move up for him. Maybe we could get a 2nd or 3rd back in the deal though. If we have to move up to 4 would the chart say it's doable?fiestavike wrote: ↑Tue Apr 14, 2020 2:21 pmOk, I stand corrected! I like your devotion! I'm not sure we all agree. I might actually be willing to trade both picks. Not saying I am, but I might be. If we can trade both firsts and get a 2nd back I would do that.

Re: WRs in Draft
This makes so much sense. I like that Wirfs could play either Tackle or Guard, too. Williams' age and injury history scares me. Knowing we could bump Wirfs out there to cover in a pinch would be solid.Pondering Her Percy wrote: ↑Tue Apr 14, 2020 2:08 pmI'm still all for trading Reiff and a 3rd or 4th for Williams. Williams is 32 is it with an injury history. Wirfs is 22 without. That's a big difference. It would be real interesting though to get Williams and Chase Young. Could have two all pros in the trenches for years to come.
LT: Williams
LG: Wirfs
C: Bradbury
RG: Could put a garbage can there for all I care
RT: O'Neill
That's a hell of an OL and easily the best OL we have had in years.

Since we're talking about OL in the WR thread...
Kline is still a free agent - think he re-signs with us after the draft?

No. Why would we cut him and take the dead cap hit then sign him. Zero sense to that. Would have been so much cheaper to keep him in the first place.

Re: WRs in Draft
If I recall correctly, to get to 4 would take 22, 25, and our 2nd round pick. Of course, that assumes the Giants would make the trade.VikingsVictorious wrote: ↑Tue Apr 14, 2020 4:39 pmI still haven't said I would. Just that I might. Tough choices. I believe at 7, the chart says we could do it for just the 22 and 25. Of course, that assumes that the Panthers would make the trade.

Why not give up those two first round picks for a top 10 pick. We could get our hands on the best receiver, maybe the best OL or DL or a QB.

Re: WRs in Draft
I'm not sure how many transcendent players there will be at 7, 8, 9. Of the WRs, Jeudy is the only one I think has the potential to be a truly dominant #1 WR. Lamb has a very high floor. He's going to be damn good, but a lower ceiling.
Both the top DTs rank pretty low in athletic testing, and one or both could slide.
OT might make sense. There are a lot of high upside, athletic guys who could fit our scheme available late, but they have lower floors, especially when it comes to technicality and pass protection.
In the end, I'd consider trading up especially for Wirfs, Jeudy, or Hebert, but otherwise I'm inclined to stay put or trade back. I believe in the wisdom of the vikings tendency to collect picks, and I like rounds 2 and 3 in this draft a lot.
edit* I should add Okudah and Henderson to that list as well. Maybe Ruggs just for his ability to blow the cap off a defense.

Re: WRs in Draft
I know people around here like Tyler Johnson because he was a gopher and a lot of Vikings fans have watched him more than any other WR available, but he might actually be a very a good pick regardless of where he went to school.
I question some of the methodology they used to determine these rankings, but nextgen has him as the 9th most likely prospect to turn into a star.

He was the most productive WR (based on some formula) in this draft class and should be available day 2. Some team is going to get a ton of value from selecting him, and I hope it is the Vikings.

Re: WRs in Draft
I wasn't sure where to put this, but this thread has become our catch-all draft thread, so I guess here.
I found this article to be really insightful. It's an analysis of realistic trade partners if were were to attempt a trade up in round 1 for a WR, OT, or CB. I like that it looks at the potential trade partners' needs and desires as well, since it does take two to tango.
https://www.si.com/nfl/vikings/news/fou ... ound-draft
I'd be fine with them moving up, especially for OT or CB (assuming it's one of the big 4 or big 2 respectively, at their positions). WR is just so deep that I don't see the point of moving up. For that position, I'd rather trade down and get more picks in the 2nd and 3rd rounds.

There is a rumor that Vikings will trade their 2nd rounder and 5th rounder for Beckham, I sure hope that does not happen!

That doesn't pass the smell test at all. Complete lack of truthiness to it. Any evidence or links for these 'rumors'?RandyMoss84 wrote: ↑Wed Apr 15, 2020 10:36 am There is a rumor that Vikings will trade their 2nd rounder and 5th rounder for Beckham, I sure hope that does not happen!

Saw it on reddit too. I'd be surprised, given that we couldn't handle Diggs' antics; now we are interested in trading for OBJ? The biggest WR Diva out there? I just don't think he'd be good for our locker room.RandyMoss84 wrote: ↑Wed Apr 15, 2020 11:09 amhttps://mobile.twitter.com/MarcMalusis/ ... gr%5EtweetTexas Vike wrote: ↑Wed Apr 15, 2020 10:45 am
