Thoughts Week 10

Post by akvikingsfan »

I actually don't have many thoughts about this weeks game. But here is what I have:

The Good
- Peterson. Over 200 yards
- Defense. Held the high scoring Raiders to 14.
- Newman: 2 picks
- 5 straight wins. First time since '09.
- Sole possession of NFC North lead.

The Bad
- Offensive play calling. Not a fan of Norv.
- Rudy with the dropped TD. No excuse for that.

The Ugly
- Two missed field goals. But they weren't really bad. Just ugly on the stat line.
- Lack of finishing drives.

On to the Packers next week. Skol Vikings.

You forgot: kickoff return for a momentum-changing TD by Patterson! :)

It was a great team win, on the road, against one of the best teams they've played this year. I'll have more thoughts later but right now, I'm just happy about the victory. They're winning with defense and the running game but that suits me just fine as long as they can keep it up.

It's unbelievable how good it feels to be a Vikings fan right now. A part of me had forgotten what it felt like.

If Seattle beats the Cardinals tonight, the Vikings will have played themselves into the second seed in the Playoff standings.

THAT is impressive. WOW.
The Devil whispered in the Viking's ear, "There's a storm coming." The Viking replied, "I am the storm." ‪#‎SKOL2018

Nice. Although at this time of the year it doesn't really matter so much so I still hope Seattle loses 8)

Hmmm... let's see...

The Packers lose to the Lions at Lambeau (ROFL)... Skol, Kitties!

The Vikes travel to the West Coast to play a team that is also on the rise, on grass and the Vikes whip them pretty soundly.

I call that a damn good day!

Game balls:
Newman (played lights out, 2 picks, almost 3)
Patterson (earned his paycheck for the first time this season)
Kalil (another very solid game... he's not a bust, folks)
Joseph (a monster among mere mortals, totally destroys everything in the middle)
Adrian Peterson (no turnovers, only one brain fart, and 203 yds, plus a TD)

Guys who owe the above guys dinner
Sendejo (needs a dog or a white cane, or something, when he's in coverage)
Walsh (a little shaky, bro)
Rudolph (you get paid to catch the ball, dude)
Clemmings (the human turnstile)

BRING ON THE PUKERS!!!

Actually looking at it. I am not sure, but even if the Cardinals win, I think the Vikes take it on like the 5th tiebreaker.

Sendejo really is, by far, the worst defender on this team. He NEVER goes for the ball, lets the receivers make the catch and then tackles them (must say he is a good tackler) but the trade-off is no where near equal. He needs to be replaced yesterday :steamed:

More game balls:

Rhodes. They barely called his name, because they weren't throwing at him. Pretty much took his guy out of the game.

Greenway. Again, didn't have his name called a lot but played a ton of snaps.

Bridgewater. Passing stats weren't great, but he looked really good moving around in the pocket, avoiding sacks, and picking up some crucial yards. Didn't turn the ball over. Our game plan was to run the ball and control the clock. Teddy executed that game plan really well.

It's pretty early to look at the draft, but replacing Sendajo has to be the #1 priority, especially if we feel that TJ Clemming and Daniel Hunter can develop into starting-caliber NFL players.

They're basically asking him to make a handful of plays and not lose games for them but to his credit, he's managing the game and accomplishing that. At this point, it looks like they're going to go as far as their running game and defense can take them. If they keep playing like they did today, they might be pretty far.

It really is the glaring weakness of this team defensively.
