Thats too much money unless he seriously adjusted his contract. Which I am betting he didnt. I guess we are dropping CP,Wright, and Theilen to make room for a big WR in the draft now, lol. Man I hate this pick. I at least wanted one of the big 3 WR in the draft.
Yeah remember when he signed with Miami, and good riddance they totally overpaid him!
Now he's here and the contract isn't an issue anymore for the same people that said he was being paid too much. And that is AFTER not living up to it in Miami, and having other issues.
There were also frequent talk about Wallace being unhappy with his role, culminating in an argument with the team’s coaches that landed Wallace on the bench for much of the team’s final game in 2014.
Not an issue here of course. Our coaching staff is just that much better.
Demi: The Vikings were a completely different team last year and starting a brand new regime. The difference between last year and now is that the Vikings know what they need and only have those few voids left to fill to be considered a contender. Mike Wallace last year would not have been worth it in my opinion because there were way too many uncertainties. Who is the Q? Has CP developed? AP was still being counted on. Completely different scenario. This year we know that Teddy is capable and that the team had a hard time carving out a deep game because no one really rose to the challenge. Enter: Wallace. Makes much more sense now given that it's rounding out the roster and filling a huge need.
The quote Demi just posted is my main concern. I'm totally not into any wideout who gets into beefs with the staff because he is 'unhappy with his role'.
I defended Harvin to a degree cause I thought Childress was an A-hole and frankly I might have chucked a weight at him myself.....but Harvin has proved he's not worth the trouble.
Your role is to run the routes called for you, block downfield and catch the ball when it's thrown to you all while collecting a big fat check.
I really hope this kid isn't a jerk that way.
If he doesn't restructure, how much dead money will be on our books if he doesn't work out and we cut him after the season? If's it's $0, it seems like a great trade, since we'll likely have plenty of cap room this year, and downgrading from a 5th to a 7th isn't a high price to pay.

I don't think anybody is ok with his current contract. That's why everyone keeps asking about it. I imagine something is going down with it. Everyone is just jumping to assumption and we've had Wallace on our roster for 30 minutes. Chill out

Its funny how some people just think Zimmer can wave his magic wand and, wow, no more character issues. Its one thing to to fix a blocking stance, or a better technique on how to get to the QB, but like i said before some guys have issues, and are what I would term as 'punks' and Wallace fits this title now, just like he did when Pitt decided to trade him. Hopefully our new #1 WR can manage more then 60 rec.

Let's hope that "third time is the charm" for Wallace.

Don't hate on my Buckeyes. Some of the best Vikings went to Ohio State.
Including now, HOF WR #80 Cris Carter

There's no chance he collects this contract from the Vikes, unless he explodes and becomes a top 5 WR (he won't). It's a 1 year experiment. They'll see what he does this year and re-evaluate next offseason. It's an expensive experiment from a money standpoint, but the pick is somewhat negligible and he can be dumped after this year pretty easily.

Coming from the guy that wanted Marshall?? He's dealt with "punks" throughout his whole coaching career. Most recently, Vontaze Burfict and Pac Man Jones. He's a respectable coach that demands a lot out of his players. There is no reason to think he can't turn an attitude around

Or maybe Zimmer has a real track record of handling and getting through to players with character issues. His M.O. has been the relationships he's built with guys like Pacman Jones and Vontaze Burfict and getting the most out of their talents when other teams were scared off by those character issues. No one is expecting a magic wand here. We're expecting for Zimmer to do what he does and to keep doing it well.

There have been no alterations to Mike Wallace's contract I'm told. Looks like that trade goes down as-is in terms of his contract
Seems okay actually, that he didn't restructure, especially if there is no cap hit for dropping him after the season if necessary. We have the space this year, so it would be dumb to renegotiate to save cap space this year but adding guaranteed money to future years.
actually a lot of the tougher non locker room friendly teammates have actually liked Zimmer.
I think because he is honest with them no matter what and players respect that. I know I have
always liked bosses that shoot me straight. I already know its a screwed up situation. Don't feed
me road apples and tell me its ice cream.
