Cris should just go ahead and get that H added to his name. It has annoyed me for years.

Re: Teddy Bridgewater
Granted this is the preseason and with limited snaps...but this bodes well for his long-term potential and, in my mind, is one of the most critical areas an NFL quarterback must excel in order to be successful.
@PFF -- Vikings rookie QB Teddy Bridgewater has an Accuracy Percentage of 80% on plays when Under Pressure this preseason.

Seriously, that's obviously good and hopefully, when he gets to play in meaningful games, he will be even better.
Re: Teddy Bridgewater
Thanks for posting that stat, DP! That's very promising.

Re: Teddy Bridgewater
I'm just not convinced he will be able to develop in a way that's best for him, in a way that will maximize this guy's tremendous potential- by sitting on the bench.... I think there is enough evidence that if a guy is ready to play, let him go out there and run with the big dogs.
I'm just saying, Pete Carroll made the tough call two years ago. In the midst of all the banter, between most of the talking heads and analysts, about Flynn being a promising starter, Seattle paying Flynn that Absurd contract based off of one game - the previous year, and general unkowns and unanswered questions about Russel Wilson (Size, mainly but there we're other concerns) - Pete Carroll came out and just surprised the entire world by starting this 3rd rounder who was too short and this and that, over a $20 million dollar quarterback.
2 Years later? Dynasty-Bound......
If you have Preseason Live do yourself a favor and watch Russel's Rookie preseason games vs Ted's.... START DROOLING.
If you don't have Preseason Live , check the boxscores...
JUST SAYING.... in 2 years when the Lombardy trophy Gets Hoisted up at the new Viking's stadium, It sure would be nice if Ted could have 2 full years of experience and opportunities to break down his OWN game-film and learn to get better that way, instead of breaking down what he would have done in Matt Cassel's shoes, and then going out and taking practice reps with the 2s EVERY DAY FOR A SEASON.
Our situation is EXTREMELY COMPARABLE (please convince me otherwise) to that of a young team under new head coach, Pete Carroll.
So why not us?

Re: Teddy Bridgewater
The major difference was that Matt Flynn was lousy through camp and the preseason. Wilson earned the job by outplaying Flynn, and while it's a tight battle, I'm not sure anyone could convincingly say teddy outplayed Cassel, because both were very impressive28BreaksAnkles wrote:I'm just not convinced he will be able to develop in a way that's best for him, in a way that will maximize this guy's tremendous potential- by sitting on the bench.... Re: Teddy Bridgewater
Agreed. But, I think there's a little give-and-take here.. Russel also was not a 1st round draft pick with 10,000 yards in college.saint33 wrote:The major difference was that Matt Flynn was lousy through camp and the preseason. Re: Teddy Bridgewater
Except Matt Flynn wasn't as good as Russell in the preseason. Russell was making things happen and stood out. Right now, you can't say Bridgewater stands out all that much more than Cassel. Not to mention that when Pete made that decision, he knew Russell was backed by a then top 5 defense. The situations are definitely not as comparable as you make them seem. Gotta go beyond face value28BreaksAnkles wrote:I'm just not convinced he will be able to develop in a way that's best for him, in a way that will maximize this guy's tremendous potential- by sitting on the bench.... I've told people a million times not to exaggerate!
Re: Teddy Bridgewater
Way too early to judge what type of QB Teddy will become, although he looks poised and talented and the future appears very promising. Same with Johnny Manziel. Personally, I was glad the Vikings avoided JF, but one good (or bad) preseason isn't a guarantee that that player is 100% ready to be the starting QB.
I don't disagree with the Vikings' decision to start Cassel and let Teddy absorb some more info on the sidelines until the give him the starter's role.

Re: Teddy Bridgewater
What more could he do? I thought the point of being a good quarterback was to score TD's? You can only work with the opportunities you're given. 5 TD's vs 2 TD's. Our team scored 47 points with Teddy at the helm in right over 6 full quarters of play.. Points win games, ultimately. He outscored him by quite a bit.. and in my opinion showed better ability in multiple areas over Matt (Such as % vs blitz..)PacificNorseWest wrote:Except Matt Flynn wasn't as good as Russell in the preseason. Re: Teddy Bridgewater
Those opportunities can't be overstated, either. Teddy was given some prime field position for a few of those scores, and you can't deny the fact that if they are equal talents at this point, the guy going against 2s and 3s SHOULD look better.28BreaksAnkles wrote: What more could he do?
