I know it looks like the beggining of the schedule is going to be really tough, but I'm kind of glad it played out like that. I think It'll show us how much more effective Zimmers scheme is compared to Fraziers. Also I think It provides an good opportunity for us to find out if Cassel can put up enough points to compete with top QB's or if we need to play the QB of the future.
Starting in St. Louis isn't too bad. Facing the Patriots, Saints and Packers in the first five weeks of the season is rough. Minnesota has to go to the Superdome early and they go to Lambeau Field on a short week to face the Packers on a Thursday night game. We also think that the NFC North will experience a return to form this season. Three teams have quarterbacks. The Vikings don't.
Wow what a tough schedule for a 8th draft pick team. I've noticed the last 4-5 years we keep getting tougher and tougher schedules where as winning teams Patriots, Broncos, seattle, ect ect schedules keep getting easier and easier. unless a miracle happens I see a 4 win season

The home game against Atlanta is being shown variously at 1:00 PM and at 4:25 PM ET, depending on where you look. Even NFL.com has both times showing on different pages. I'm not sure which is correct.

I wish we had more mid-afternoon (Minnesota time) starts. It's 2-4 hours different here in South America (changes when we go on DST and you go off). Those are nice 5 / 6 / 7 pm games for me.
Those late season evening games for you start at 11:30 at night here. It's tough to get to work in the morning after staying up until 3 am to watch the Vikings usual "prime time" dismal performance.
I already know that I'll be going to the Patriots game and Lions game. I wanted to convince my friend to go to the Packers game, but he's kind of a girl about the cold. Also, now that I think about it, that LAST game against the Packers that I went to was a REAL doozy. Maybe it's best if I avoid that. Then again, the Pats game might be a doozy, too. Oh well, it's our home opener, and it's part of history. I'm sure it'll be a trivia question someday: "Who did the Vikings open up against at TCF Bank Stadium in 2014?"

But anything can happen
Really looking at things with the glass half full! We lost so many games last year in the last minute, plus we have better personnel and coaching. There's no reason to believe even with a tough schedule that we can't win 8 games.
