Apparently the NFL didn't allow the members of the Red Hot Chili Peppers plug their guitars in - http://ftw.usatoday.com/2014/02/red-hot ... ents-flea/
and a response from the band -
"When we were asked by the NFL and Bruno to play our song Give It Away at the Super Bowl, it was made clear to us that the vocals would be live, but the bass, drums, and guitar would be pre-recorded"
the full response here - http://ftw.usatoday.com/2014/02/flea-re ... unplugged/
so it looks like we have the most watched air guitar show in history

As a Semi Pro Lead guitarist and bass player it pains me to say it, but the music industry as a real art endeavor died in the early 80s and as result all we have today is Beyonce, Brittany Spears, Bruno mars, Lady gaga and all the other associated CRAP run by attorneys and merchandising agents. Rock has died

Aren't all of the half-time shows faked?
I was more disappointed that in all that, the Chili Peppers played nothing more than part of one song.
I get a bigger kick out of the fake crowds they always bring onto the field. Typically, very young people. How many of them do you think came down out of the stands from their $1500 seats? I imagine they're all let in at half time and then ushered right back out again.

I thought that "Give It Away" as the song selection was perfect for what the Broncos were doing in the game.

Boom!

Re: Half time show faked
I knew someone that was part of the fake halftime crowd during Super Bowl 38 in Houston, and that's pretty much how it went down. They didn't have seats and weren't there to watch the game. In and out. And no, she wasn't aware of the Jackson boob flash while it was happening. That was my 2nd question right after, WTF how'd you get Super Bowl tickets xD.Eli wrote:I get a bigger kick out of the fake crowds they always bring onto the field. Typically, very young people. I remember hearing something like this in the early 80's. Only the names have changed. Rock evolves. It will evolve back around, just give it time. After all, some of the top hits are songs that could have been hits in the 70's.Laserman wrote:As a Semi Pro Lead guitarist and bass player it pains me to say it, but the music industry as a real art endeavor died in the early 80s and as result all we have today is Beyonce, Brittany Spears, Bruno mars, Lady gaga and all the other associated CRAP run by attorneys and merchandising agents. Re: Half time show faked
How often has a big show like this been pre-recorded audio with live vocals? I mean, is this news to some of y'all?
fwiw - there's good rock music out there but it's just not as accessible on the radio. College radio is great for discovering new rock bands. Radio K in Minneapolis is super solid

Re: Half time show faked
I have to agree with Laserman on the demise of rock but disagree on the timing , I say it died mid 90's with the last of the grunge movement . There hasn't been a band able to make album / cd with more than three decent songs since then and just don't see any savior to over come the corporate greed , fake musicianship , looks more important than the sound , and general lack of decent song writing that has befallen the rock and roll industry : LONG LIVE ROCK BE IT DEAD OR ALIVERaptorman wrote: I remember hearing something like this in the early 80's.
