This Chase Ford looks like a potential cheap replacement!
If I remember correctly the contract was really only a 2 year contract such that if they cut him after this year he wouldn't have a cap hit

I think John Carlson restructured after 2012 to avoid being cut after his terrible year.

Good point. I think Ford looks like a decent backup to Rudolph next year.

As mentioned, his passes just seem to come off his hand low and then rise. I noticed that all year.

It would be just like the vikings to give up a touchdown and get outcoached in the second half to lose the game.

If it wasn't for Patterson's rushing ability, this would be one boring half.

thats Frazier playing not to lose the game instead of to win it , even when its pretty obvious the Kitties aren't really into the game . There is no reason not to attempt those field goals inside the dome in a meaningless game .

actually I was wrong earlier - we could theoretically move up to the number 3 spot. But We have better odds to go undefeated next year and win the SB - we would have to lose and Atlanta, Cleveland, Jacksonville, Oakland, and Tampa Bay would all have to win vs Carolina, Pittsburgh, Indianapolis, Denver and New Orleans respectively.

Yeah, these definitely look like a couple of teams that won't be playing after today.

John Carlson's five-year, $25 million contract with the Minnesota Vikings could end up being a two-year, $11 million pact, depending how the veteran tight end produces.

According to a source with access to NFL salary data, only $9.1 million of the deal Carlson signed on Wednesday is truly guaranteed -- a $5 million signing bonus, plus Carlson's full $2.9 million base salary in 2012 and $1.2 million of his $2.9 million base salary in 2013.

He's just playing a field position game and since they have a shutout going, it's not exactly a failing strategy.
