Purple Punching Bag Thread

Post by The Breeze »

In light of all the pre and off-season tension here this year, I thought it might be fun to start a thread specifically for rants and spleen venting about anything that irks you about the Vikings this season. Like a backroom in a restaurant where wait staff goes to let off steam about some patron or cook who just pissed them off.

Maybe it will help smooth out some of the jagged edges of our discourse here...maybe not, but I think it would be fun to read some of the rants throughout the year, assuming anybody uses it.

No, debate in here, just angst and frustration...or whatever you happen to call it, as well as the obligatory "LOLs", "I agrees", "Amens" and whatever creative spin offs that ensue.

It's completely natural to feel frustration as a fan, especially a Viking fan, and it's unrealistic and inhumane to expect anyone to keep it bottled up for long. It just tends to inhibit peoples desire to express themselves freely when we make a habit of taking it out on eachother.

So, the 2013-14 Purple Punch thread....let er rip~

So it's a thread for ranting and venting, eh? Good idea...

When I read the title, I thought it was going to be a recipe for some delicious, fruity, alcohol-laden purple punch. I was going to tun out and look for a Vikings punch bowl!

Oops, sorry, that wasn't much of a rant to get things rolling. I'll throw in a :wallbang:

Purple Punch recipe:
Equal parts: Mad Dog 20/20, Grape Shasta and Robitussin DM... eases the pain of being a Vikings fan. :smilevike:

Hopefully it will take some time before we are punch drunk.

There is potential for real funny stuff here on gamedays~

A rant? Okay, when I look at life I am bothered that I was not blessed with the tools to be an NFL caliber player. Ive been fit, active and athletic all my life, but I never pursued or had the tools to be any kind of pro athlete. How is it purple related? The first life I ever dreamed about as a child was to be a veterinarian, then a rock star, then a Viking. A Minnesota North Star by way of the Dallas Stars would have been nice as well!

That's interesting, my first love was hockey. I was a huge Phoenix Roadrunner fan in the early 70s. Me and my Dad went to every home game. Their biggest rival was the Minnesots Fighting Saints, oddly enough. Man, did those two teams hate eachother.

Can the Vikings win the Super Bowl once before I die? Just one! Doesn't have to be this year, just sometime before the asteroid, mayans, black hole, solar flare or whatever else is going to take us down. In fact, can they at least MAKE the Super Bowl? 34 years and all I want is a peek! Just a little peek!

I too thought this would be a thread about mixing up some good drink.
2 bottles of Bacardi 151 rum
I can of Hi-C grape juice
1 can of Orange HI-C
3 Oranges- sliced
1 Lime- sliced
2 handfuls of cherries.
1 pk. of Grape Koolaid
2 6ks. of Malt Duck
1 bag of Ice
Mix all ingredients then pour the ice over and let chill for about an hour or two.

Some poetry to ease your soul.

William Blake:

Every night and every morn,
Some to misery are born,
Every morn and every night,
Some are born to sweet delight.
Some are born to sweet delight,
Some are born to endless night.

Sounds interesting. I had to do some googling as I hadn't heard of it, but I haven't seen Malt Duck sold anywhere here. I guess they no longer make it either? http://wiki.answers.com/Q/What_happened ... _Malt_Duck

What would you substitute for it? I'm a bit wary of anything taking 151, but if you promise this is good.....
