Percy's future w/ Vikings looking uncertain

If there's any good news, it's that the team saw this coming (heck, it's been at least a year in the making) and is likely quite prepared for various scenarios.

I would be fine with a 3rd and Mallett even though I think Percy is a huge part of this team. We went 5-2 after his injury and against some good teams.. We could get some well needed help through free agency and the draft.

So if those rumors of the Patriots being interested are true, I would like to see Spielman try to grab Ryan mallet and a 4th from them for Harvin. Remember that the Patriots will have to give Harvin a contract so its going to be hard to get a 1st rounder I would think, but who knows until it happens.

Anyways, I really think Mallet is a bombshell that was swept under the rug behind Brady who is going to end up being one helluva QB. I would love to see him fight with ponder for the starting job.

If the Vikings can't find a compromise in negotiations with Harvin, what could they get in return? In the ESPN Insider piece, Monson discussed the possibility of a second-round draft pick, the price for a player considered damaged goods. I agree with Monson's assessment on that price; it would be the steal of the decade in the NFL. If the Vikings take less than a first-round pick for him, we could only conclude that their off-field concerns are deeper than currently contemplated.

The more I think about it, the more I think the Vikings should demand nothing less than a first round pick for Harvin, if not more. I realize there's a school of thought that says they should get something for him but the guy is a real talent and there's no reason they should just give some team a bargain for a cheap price. If he wants to hold out, let him hold out and deal with the fines while his reputation takes a hit. The Vikes have a player teams will want and they shouldn't be willing to take poor value in return for him.

The Tacoma News Tribune wonders if the Vikings and Seahawks would be interested in a trade centered around Percy Harvin and Matt Flynn.

You can bet the Seahawks would be interested in a deal like this, but Minnesota would have to get at least a second-rounder back in the deal, too.

Flynn is on the trade block, and the Vikings are in search of a backup quarterback that would be capable of producing should Christian Ponder go down, while Harvin has a history with Seahawks OC Darrell Bevell and WR Sidney Rice from their time together in Minneapolis in 2009-10. The Vikings are said to be asking for a second- and fourth-round pick in exchange for Harvin, and Flynn's trade value is estimated at a mid-round pick.

Like he's the only player who has considered holding out when he's grossly underpaid compared to his production and he's heading into the final year of a contract?

Not saying I agree with him, but this is not that big of a deal, especially considering the team is now apparently looking to see what it can get in trade. Loyalty is a two-way street.

If Spielman deals Harvin for Flynn and a 2nd he should be fired. We're talking about a bonafide difference maker and starter entering the prime of his career for a backup who couldn't beat out a rookie on a team in desperate need of a QB. Harvin for the Seahawk's first rounder plus it's 3rd with Flynn and we're talking. Less than that, no way.

Me too. He's still a young guy who is likely to mature both on and off the field. Pay him, mentor him some more, and let him become part of the deadliest 1-2 punch in the NFL when paired with AD.

It's all baseless rumor. Somebody obviously has an agenda. What that agenda is, nobody has been able to say, because it doesn't appear to benefit anybody. The Vikings lose. Percy loses. Vikings fans lose.

Maybe the waterboy didn't like the way Percy grabbed his bottle and never saying 'Thank You'. The waterboy is now trying to tank Percy's career. "Sources inside the organization" is the damned waterboy!
