Re: Vikings sign back LB Jasper Brinkley
We are 1-2 years out at least from realistically making it to a Super Bowl. Maybe they're trying to sign veterans to give the young guys a chance to learn.

Re: Reviewing the Vikings' 2010 NFL Draft
That's Brad Childress for you. Yea Spielman had say in those picks but that a lot that was Childress trying to re-create 2009 by wanting to draft solely for the present. Trading up in the 2nd for Toby Gerhart when you have AD. :wallbang: Would be nice to have a linebacker right now instead of Toby ...

Re: Vikings QB of the future search list
I always wondered about the QBs we drafted that never got a chance with the Vikes. Tyler Thigpen and John David Booty come to mind.

Re: Vikings QB of the future search list
ESPN - Redskins have no plans to trade backup QB Kirk Cousins, sources tell ESPN NFL Insider Adam Schefter Added to OP. Here's a blog that mentions Mallett as an option. Not saying there's anything there, but just a blog post. http://espn.go.com/blog/minnesota-vikings/post/_/id/4871/some-vikings-pl...

Re: Vikings QB of the future search list
Let's say the Vikings have a pretty successful off-season in the QB hunt and find these four players coming into camp: Josh McCown Derek Carr Christian Ponder Connor Shaw McCown is the acknowledged starter, and Carr will make the roster no matter what. Then you decide if you keep Ponder, likely for...

Re: Vikings QB of the future search list
Kirk Cousins say's he open to being traded . I wouldn't be against sending a 3rd to Washington for Cousins, picking up a QB in the draft somewhere, and then trying to re-sign Cassel. I know that would never happen though. My guess is that we only have one possible starter going into training camp.

Re: PFT reporting that Cassel will opt out of contract
Wouldn't that be something if the light suddenly came on for Ponder under Norv Turner and he became an all-pro QB?! Not a prediction...would just be funny as hell and with all the hate for Ponder in Minnesota it would be a real hoot. That sort-of happened with Turner in Dallas and Troy Aikman. In 1...

PFT reporting that Cassel will opt out of contract
I wasn't sure whether to post this on page 4 of the Matt Cassel thread or whether it deserved to be seen as a post of its own but here is the story. Seems newsworthy enough for its own thread. http://profootballtalk.nbcsports.com/2014/02/05/report-matt-cassel-to-opt-out-of-contract/ Earlier this wee...

Re: Former Minn mayor candidate trying to stop stadium bond
Regardless of whether you support the stadium or not it is a huge insult to our democratic process that there is a law on the books requiring a referendum for publicly funded stadiums in the city of Minneapolis yet this law was not followed. It sends the message that the Vikings and the NFL are not ...

Re: 73.9
Even if the Vikings were able to draft the next Peyton Manning, it will still take a few years for the rookie to develop. I would say if we have a rookie QB starting all next year who has a passer rating of 90 or higher we can call it a successful pick (based on 1 year of data). I'm not saying QB is...
