Dome may not be ready for next season

From the Pioneer Press: MINNEAPOLIS—The new head of the Metropolitan Sports Facilities Commission said Thursday that replacing the snow-damaged roof of the Metrodome would likely take five to six months, raising the possibility of affecting next season's schedule for the Minnesota Vikings. Ted Monda...

Re: Stadium thread

Come on, this stuff ebbs and flows. For 360, yes, they played Soldier, and are scheduled to do so again next summer. Note that they're not playing the Dome when they come to MN as part of it, they're playing at TCF. Vertigo? UC (Target Center in MN). Elevation? UC (Target Center in MN). Not really....

Re: Stadium thread

Sorry, gotta knock this argument as a resident of a much larger city/metro area that doesn't have an indoor stadium. If U2 really wants to play Chicago in Jan/Feb, they work with the NBA and NHL to get a gap in the Bulls/Hawks schedules and play at the United Center. C'mon. It might not be the best...

Re: Stadium thread

Well that's not painting an entirely true picture. TCF wasn't built to handle the kind of weather we get in December-January, and like I said before a new 500-700 million dollar outdoor stadium would have all kinds of unique additions to make it accommodating. It would be built with that type of we...

Re: Stadium thread

I'm really excited at what could potentially come from this upcoming MFN game at TCF, as far as getting a new open-air stadium. The big argument against a roofless stadium is of course that a lot of people wouldn't go to a winter weather game. This game has a BIG chance to change that perception. W...

Re: Stadium thread

Only thing I can say is that I don't know if 0.15% is what's on the table for the Vikings. Target Field came in at $412 million, which is less than half of the latest Vikings stadium proposal of about $865 million (but holy crap ... $412 MM isn't bad for a park voted #1 sports stadium in the USA by ...

Re: Stadium thread

Somebody help me out because I have a few honest questions. FIRST -- My understanding is that Minnesota law requires a county seeking to raise its sales tax to put the question before the voters. AND -- if I'm not mistaken, the law also allows a county to seek permission from the state to enact the ...

Re: Stadium thread

well, you specifically said if "this is the best product the vikes have" and i just pointed out that it's not the best product. i have seen a far better product as recently as last season. look, it's not up to me to tell people how to be fans. if you want to give up on the vikes and volun...

Re: Stadium thread

I don't live in Minnesota, so perhaps I don't understand the political climate, but ... I don't get this. Why is the Minnesota legislature so hard against building a stadium for the Vikings? Public funding was used to build Target Field, right? The legislature jumped through many hoops to give Henne...

Re: Chris Kluwe's New Band ROCKS!

I understand the "making the guitar sing" comment. Santana, B.B. King, Keaggy, Gilmour (just played 'The Wall' last night during dinner) Page, Hendrix, Paul, Muddy Waters. The Greats. There was a TERRIBLE 90's band called 'Extreme' but they had one the greats. Nunu Bettencourt. His rendit...

Re: Chris Kluwe's New Band ROCKS!

A little better... :D Metallica's Lyrics are FAR from Garbage. (at least their earlier stuff) Songs about fallen War Hero's, Cocaine ruling your life till you die, The demise of Human Justice....etc.... I never tried Cocaine like many of my friends because of the song 'Master of Puppets' (that has ...

. YES that kind of hard. Notice the comments for Jesus Dude "This is good, and this song is physicaly hard to play, i usual die at second riff " or "#### long fingers....i hate you because i have'nt!!! btw great playing,i really enjoyed!" As for The Girl, she massacred it. Are...

Re: Chris Kluwe's New Band ROCKS!

There is a reason Cover bands can't play metallica. It is too hard. The riffs are too fast. The solos are to intriquite. To many Change ups. Songs are to long. They are in there mid 40's now, and still play faster/tighter then 95% of the bands out there. Not much to argue about. If you don't like S...

Re: Do you think TheSaints purposely hit Favre with illegal hits

1. The Saints tried to hit Favre on every play. That's not an uncommon tactic against a great QB ... especially if your defense sucks. I do believe the goal was to get him out of the game, either physically or mentally. 2. In many ways, the tactic worked. Favre was limited in his mobility and missed...
