Re: Vikings OL
I'm certainly not counting on Phil and/or Sully, or even Kalil for that matter...but I see no reason to let them go before camp. If they don't win the job they can be let go og then, but at least give them the opportunity. If Kalil has bad knees he may never be reliable. It could take a good while j...

Re: Jeff Locke has to go
@DP Yeah, I'd be interested to see where the guy kicks from included in the numbers somehow. - As for Locke...the kicks that stick out for me are the ones he's shanked when a big kick is needed. I'm tempted to say it happens too often...but in all fairness those are the only times his kicks stand ou...

Re: Zimmer: Teddy Bridgewater needs to refine mechanics
@Mondry I've expressed this before in convos with Jim about the backup position. I actually like having the journeyman vet for the first 2-3 years while your hopeful learns the game. Having two guys real close in age before one is established could be more problematic than not. Plus the draft pick c...

Re: Zimmer: Teddy Bridgewater needs to refine mechanics
Spielman was a huge Ponder advocate! I mean he was the first QB Spielman got to pick on his own. And if the rumors about Minny wanting to move up for Manziel and Norv bangin the table for TB are true...I don't know how or what to think about Spielmans eye for QBs. I think Manziel is super talented a...

Re: Zimmer: Teddy Bridgewater needs to refine mechanics
I'm definitely geeked about the Sparano hire for the reason Mondry highlighted. The guy seems to have an eye for talent in the trenches. Which literally makes him the only guy in the building, IMO. - I found it very telling the article commented on Zimmer openly questioning whether he was involved e...

Re: Jeff Locke has to go
I'm not so sure averages and net averages are a clear indicators of field position when it comes to punting. I'd like a guy who could pretty consistantly boom it 50plus when punting from behind his own 30. Wouldn't we all? I'd take an 8-9 yd return on a 50 yd punt vs a 5-6 yd return on 42yarder. In ...

Re: Mike Zimmer unanimous pick for NFC North coach of year
Wow...unanimous?
That's cool....and well deserved IMO.
Thought Rivera might get some votes.
edit: oops...I see it was NFCN coach of the year. Jim Bob Cooter got 2 votes lol

Re: Cordarrelle Patterson
Yep...TB supposedly makes all the throws in practice, as did Ponder. For some reason it's not completely translating into games. It's less pronounced with TB than Ponder, IMO, but the offense is worse. Both of them have had bad O-lines, just like every QB that has played here since Culpepper. O-line...

Re: Shurmur hired
@Jim I'm a little shocked that there is anyone on the coacing level that has survived for 11 seasons on this team....although administrative assistant is pretty ambiguous. Perhaps with the additions of Sparano and Shurmur there will be a lot of 'wearing' different hats going on. The fact that Scott ...

Re: Shurmur hired
Well, that's more or less what I was hoping to hear. Some sense of expanding the creative possibilities of the offense.

Re: What??? Teddy to the Pro Bowl?
@Raptor I was around then but not able to follow the game much due to where i lived and no internet. - @Just me The skills competition are ok IMO....the older ones were totally non-football related. I think it was called 'Superstars'? It took place in summer....there was an obstacle course, rowing, ...

Re: Cordarrelle Patterson
I can't say I was surprised to see Musgrave let go when Zimmer came in...just from a fresh slate perspective. It was a headscratcher to me, in light of that, to see Davidson retained.

Re: Cordarrelle Patterson
@Mondry Hey, thanks for sharing that anecdote. My ex-wife became a sports and Viking fan due to the pure freakishness of Randy Moss;) My ultimate discontent, which has little to do with anything specific to AD personally(cause I don't know him), could also be attributed to specific types of personas...

Re: Cordarrelle Patterson
@Mondry Oddly enough it's my sentimental bond that has worn thin with him more than anything. But it's more of a societal thing than anything personally toward the guy. Thanks for the back n forth on this, as it's stimulated some constructive mental dialogue on my end. I'm often amazed at the differ...
