Re: Shamwow guy arrested

Never heard of Shamwow. Who the heck would buy that thing anyway? Oh wait ... this is america. $1000 for a ho? I thought we were in a recession? Also ... she bit his tongue. Ouch! Why did she do that? I think he's entitled to some tongue for $1K don't you? At least the Miami district attorney had en...

Kindle 2

Anybody have one? I bought one about six weeks ago and I am hooked. Never thought of Amazon as a technology innovator in the same sense as Apple, but the Kindle 2 is just the type of amazing technology that you'd expect from a company like Apple. Reading from it is completely different than reading ...

Ziggy and Madoff?

Wonder if Ziggy has any exposure to ponzi scheme artist Bernie Madoff? Article in the NY Times business section yesterday detailed a sizable concentration of NY area Jewish real estate tycoons who invested heavily with Madoff. It's a tight knit community and unfortunately Madoff appears to have used...

Re: The Bridge Loans

Allowing either GM or Chrysler to fail would have crushed the market and put the economy in a death spiral. I'm a free-market guy but I'm not a looney free-market guy who thinks any kind of government intervention is bad (e.g. Larry Kudlow). Ford is being penalized by having the foresight of having ...

Re: Wall Street Ready To Tank Tomorrow

Curious as to what turned you off the Canroys, was it the upcoming tax changes? It was that plus: 15% withholding for non-Canadiens (who wants to file a tax refund with Ottawa) Currency fluctuations Cost of tax advice (more complicated than MLPs in the US) I've been tracking the natural gas industr...

Re: Wall Street Ready To Tank Tomorrow

Since you're looking into Canroys, add Penn West Energy Trust (PWE) to the list if you haven't already. I'd be curious to hear your take after you've had some time to look over the industry. Think I logged well over 20 hours researching the energy MLPs and Canroys. Came to the conclusion somewhat e...

Re: KFAN-AM co-host Dubay arrested

If it was "felony possession" why wouldn't they charge him? Dubay was released without charges pending further investigation , according to a sheriff's department spokes-person. My guess: the police think they know what the substance is but are not sure. They keep the substance, send it t...

Re: Wall Street Ready To Tank Tomorrow

Personally, if I'm chasing yields I like the Canroys. Whoa! We must be reading the same stuff or following the same gurus. I started a watch list on that sector about a week ago. Still have lots of work to do. Interesting that you bring that up, I was looking into shorting treasuries when the treas...

Re: Wall Street Ready To Tank Tomorrow

Consider the long bond though. The 10-year was yielding 8% last week, it's still close at 7.79% (CUSIP: 36962G3U6 if you want to take a look). I would only consider it if I was willing to hold to maturity and ten years is a long time. The yield curve is already starting to steepen. Adding all this ...

Re: Wall Street Ready To Tank Tomorrow

Keep in mind GE was up on Friday while the market was tanking. I don't think GE will fall to 15 unless we have a massive sell-off, but anything is possible in this market. Right now the better play is probably long GE bonds although the spread has come down considerably since last week. GE was one ...

Re: Wall Street Ready To Tank Tomorrow

"Is it too late to buy"? The short answer: yes. The dow had it's largest single point advance today closing up 934 points to 9387. Just as there was panic selling last week there was panic buying today. We gapped about 300 points at the open. I tried to fade the open but that didn't work. ...

Re: o.j. found guilty

I don't understand how a juror knowing OJ's previous actions (the murders and the wacky #### behavior since then) is somehow "tainting" them. I think that knowledge is probably important to the case. It's part of who he is, and he is a central figure in the crime. Adolf Hitler gets picked...

Re: Wall Street Ready To Tank Tomorrow

"Is it too late to sell?" LOL 8 trading days ago the Dow closed at 11,143; today it closed at 8,579. Had you talked to a professional financial planner at anytime during the interim an overwhelming number of them would have advised you that it was too late to sell. That was the conventiona...
