...Diggs can be a bit of a diva while also being partially Kirk's fault (
for sucking at quarterbacking)...
Listen I dont think Diggs and AT were happy to begin with after game 1 when we only threw 10 passes. They arent going to come out and say that but you cant tell me that wasnt the start of the frustration. That isn't Kirk's fault that's the coordinators. Were Diggs and Thielen frustrated last year? Outside of week 17 vs. Chicago no they werent. Because they were getting the ball non-stop. They didnt complain, they didnt go AWOL, they didnt request a trade. Now they arent touching the ball as much and they are getting ticked. Dont be surprised if they are more ticked at the coordinator than they are the QB. Kirk Cousins gave them both the best years of their careers last year. Now all of the sudden they hate him after 4 games? I dont buy it. I think they are ticked with how this offense has gone from heavy pass to heavy run.
I just dont get it. The run game looked inept last year. Guys were saying "we cant run the ball with this OL". I continued to say we COULD, Flip just REFUSED. I'm starting to think that's what Stefanski and Kubiak are doing when it comes to the pass. They CAN pass and be very effective. It showed last year. But it's almost like they are refusing to. To find an OC that can balance an offense is clearly a lot more difficult than I thought. I also think it's more Zimmer forcing them to do what he wants and thats pound the football. I feel like if Zimmer wasnt the HC, we wouldnt be holding back so much on the pass.
I just want fricken balance. That's all I've been saying on here. I said it last year and I'm saying it this year. I've said it ever since Shurmur left. I want to see a game where Cook goes for 105 and a TD and Kirk goes for 280+ and 2+ TDs. Granted, every game isnt going to be like that but damn, come on. Keep the D on their toes, make them have no idea what you are doing (Kirk even said that on his radio show the other day).
This team is not playing like a complete team right now. That's the problem. From Zim all the way down to Dan Bailey. Think about it, anything good that has happened or started to happen, we shot ourselves in the foot in those two losses.
-Come off a dominating win vs Atlanta just for the defense to play like crap in the first half vs. GB (on the defense)
-We come down after they score with a decent drive and miss a FG (on Bailey)
-Diggs scores but then takes his helmet off and costs us an XP (on Diggs)
-We start to come back and Cook gets called for a stupid PI (eventually it would have been 21-21) (on Cook/Refs)
-We have a good drive at the end of the game and Cousins throws a terrible INT (on Cousins)
-Force a fumble on the first drive of the Bears game just to get it called back for defensive holding (on Harris)
-We get into Chicago territory on the 2nd drive, just for Diggs to fumble (on Diggs)
-Have Thielen wide open on a decent looking drive just to overthrow him (on Cousins)
-We get the ball at half and get strip sacked on the first play (on Cousins/Reiff)
-We score and can make it a 1 possession game but have a terrible play call to Diggs on the 2pt conversion (on OC)
^^That is the definition of shooting ourselves in the foot. And those plays, for the most part, were complete game changers. They were the difference between winning and losing. But does anyone notice anything? Out of 10 of those, 3 were on Cousins. This is my point. For someone that gets the finger pointed at him all the time, it sure looks to me that plenty of other people didnt do their job well either. TEAM GAME
