I'm no fan of Joe Buck. But his call on this play was absolutely perfect. He minimized his words. He showed the extreme excitement the moment deserved. He let the pictures do the talking. He let the crowd noise do the talking. It was masterful.

I must give some more credit -- Troy Aikman. Not a peep while the play was happening. Nothing immediately following. He knew his role, and he knew his place. Only when it was time to analyze did Aikman speak up. That was truly pro.

Compare that to Paul Allen and Pete Bersich. Granted, it's radio, and you have to be more descriptive. But everything was so ... contrived and out of control at the same time. Allen set up his Minneapolis Miracle phrase way too early, and too many times. Bersich just kept screaming over the top of him. It was awful. Allen seemed more interested in getting his Minneapolis Miracle comment in there than actually calling the play, and Bersich ... just SHUT UP for a half second.

Want to hear how a professional radio guy handles it? Listen to the call of Kevin Harlan and Trent Green on Westwood One. Notice how Green stays quiet until it's time for him to speak. THAT'S how you do radio.

Sorry guys. I'm just not a Paul Allen fan. I think he's arrogant and very much in love with himself.

My favorite line: "it was surprising to see Payton drop the red flag in two ill-advised spots." Surprising? Really? As if Sean Payton is some genius head coach. Of course he made two emotional challenges. It's what immature brats do.

I was too pumped at the time, but my eyes have watered a bit after watching the play a few times.

They do. I'm glad you had such a perfect trip.

Even here in Chicago, I think people sense there's something special about this Vikings team. I have a Vikings leather jacket (I've been wearing it for years) and over the past few weeks, everywhere I go people are wishing me good luck, telling me they think (or hope) the Vikings will win it all, etc. It's all very genuine. Yesterday, I was cleaning snow off my car and an SUV stopped in the street alongside me. The driver rolled down the window, leaned out and asked me if I was still on Cloud 9 after Sunday's game. He was all smiles, congratulated me on the Vikes win, said the Vikings were due for a win like that and said he hopes the Vikes win it all.

It's all very friendly and it adds to the fun. I can only imagine the kind of camaraderie being felt in Minnesota right now!

It happened. I was in the 10th row right behind him. He turned around, looked at us, and did a mocking Skol Chant with 0:25 left after the field goal. Then he got what he deserved.‏

My favorite thought of this week is that Sean Payton is having so much fun mocking the fans that he isn't involved in game planning for his defense. He could be watching the Vikings lineup, moving his players around, giving them last second instructions, etc. But instead he's being a jerk. Karma is a BIRCH.

Ha ha! I love it. Obviously, auto-correct has a sense of humor. Karma kind of IS a Birch Tree if you think about it long enough. Don't peel the bark off, kids!

I also love that in that photo he actually has the play card in his hand while doing the SKOL chant. I suppose it's the offensive one, but I like to imagine that the defensive play calls are right there in those mocking hands of his.

If Mike Zimmer or any Vikings coach ever did something like that, I would want him fired. What an arrogant think to do.
