I think we should offer a 5th for?

Post by Norv Zimmer »

Vontaze Burfict, I think the Bengals want to get ride of him so maybe he could be traded for cheap. He is a very solid Inside Linebacker, Zimmer knows him and hopefully could whip him into shape. I think he would really bolster our young linebacking core.

He's dirty. I don't want him on this team. Plus has an injury history.

He has Raider written all over him. That would be a good fit.

Hell no... Plus he is suspended for three games. And he's an idiot.

Bengals have a couple of OL in the last year of their contract. I'd look there first... But Zimmer knows the Bengals roster well enough, and the defensive players know his defense well enough that if he wants someone, go get them.

i'd take a shot if he's available. may not even take a 5th. with our coaches and defensive leaders i think we could keep him in check. can't dispute the flat out game changing talent he brings to the table. with the right additions our defense could go from really good to best in the league.

I didn't want him when he was drafted in the supplemental draft because he was a head case...that a few years later would do something stupid and cost his team a playoff game.

2017 free agents usually make good trade targets as usually there is no or little cap hit for the trading teams. A lot of the younger players drafted in 2013 would not be free agents and instead enter their 5th year option most likely.

Sorry if I'm changing the topic a little, but I feel like the theme is players the coaching staff is familiar with... So on a somewhat related note, Norv Turner is familiar with Travis Benjamin as he was with the Browns since they drafted him in 2012 and Norv was the OC in 2013.

He seemed to have somewhat of a breakout year last year so he may be a little expensive, but we have the ability to create plenty of cap room if we need it. Not sure we need Travis Benjamin as much as an OL, but it may be worth considering.
