Maryland WR Stefon Diggs "has the skills to be a productive NFL receiver" despite a lackluster collegiate career, notes CBS Sports' Pete Prisco.
"He is also a capable return man," Prisco wrote. "A team using a mid-round pick on him might end up with a steal. The talent is there." The analyst is far from the only person who thinks so, which is why it's basically impossible to peg where Diggs will go in the draft. Diggs was dubbed "Playmaker's 2015 sleeper favorite" by Football Outsiders' Playmaker Score. The 6-foot, 195-pound Diggs recorded forty times of 4.46 and 4.50 at the NFL Scouting Combine.

ESPN's Todd McShay believes Maryland WR Stefon Diggs "is a potential Day 2 pick because he is exceptional in one important trait -- the ability to create with the ball in his hands."
"He is a twitched-up wide receiver with really impressive stop-start ability and lateral agility, and while he doesn't have elite top-end speed, he is above average in this area and does possess elite initial burst (just a 4.46 40-yard dash, but an excellent 1.53-second 10-yard split)," McShay wrote. "He almost always makes the first defender miss either after the catch or as a returner (which might end up being his best role in the pros), and he can string together multiple moves with the ball in his hands." The analyst clarifies that Diggs "isn't likely to go in the first two rounds" because of his size and health concerns, but calls him a "big-time playmaker in the open field" who could be a potential steal. So what's the deal with Collins, if he gets selected and he sits out is it true he can re-enter the draft? Obviously he doesn't have to sign a contract but I would assume if he's drafted a team gets exclusive rights to him for x years, right? If so, throw a 6th flier for him Rick.

Wasn't Diggs the guy that refused to shake hands with the opposing team last year at Maryland and got suspended? If so, not the 1st time he was in trouble. Also a little injury prone...

"JUST" 4.46? Come on McShay, that's very fast. There are plenty of receivers and running backs in the league who ran 4.5's and 4.6's. If his head is screwed on straight, which sounds like it could be a problem, he has plenty of speed for the NFL.

Maybe, but honestly, how much time do they put into their scouting report when it comes to 6th round players? At this point the coaches are probably just looking for 1 or 2 things a guy does well and maybe a few things he can hopefully grow into or improve either through practice / coaching or the weight room. Not saying it's a good pick but you also have to think about the roll, is this guy someone they can develop while playing special teams? That's usually the question you ask for late round picks.

I'd much rather go for the other type of risk - injury risk or character risk - with the late rounders, rather than get a guy who wasn't anything special in college and see if something bizarre happens and he becomes a player. Lael Collins is a nice character risk I might try, Ekpre Olomu as an injury risk. Those guys could be starters in the league down the line.

The Dubose guy is strong but slow. Maybe the plan is to move him inside and put more weight on him. As defensive end, they say "unlikely to be a plus play[ing] against the run or pass". The NFL report shows no upside. Anyone got another report that will give me some hope? Please?
