Interesting that Elflein is getting 1st team reps right out the gate. I guess with 60% new players, they want to give the line as much time to gel as possible.

Five Knee-Jerk reactions from OTA
The rest of the year you’ll never hear this term uttered but because it’s OTA season at Winter Park, but there were a few players who were “turning heads” yesterday. No more than rookie running back Dalvin Cook in the opinion of yours truly and everybody else on hand. First off, you’ve heard the term before but when you see it in person with your own eyes it’s something else, Dalvin Cook has another gear and when he kicks it in it’s crazy to see. Secondly, he’s playing with the second team right now behind Jerick McKinnon but he’s doing all the right things. Working hard, catching EVERY pass thrown his way (which is a sight for sore eyes) and wowing teammates. The loudest hoots and hollers of the day came from a Dalvin Cook running play making a defender look silly and lighting up the teammates watching behind the play! Giving Latavius an opportunity is a must, but I think you’ll quickly start seeing Cook make plays and before you know it fans will begin be clamoring for more carries the way of the young rookie.

It would be nice if we had a good AD/Chester thing going here for a few years.

Nice transcript of a conference call with Zimmer. Touches on a number of subjects including his health, Treadwell, Alexander, Floyd, etc.

Good read, I found the part about Mac Alexander's immaturity to be surprising. Glad to here his attitude has improved.

Captain Munnerlyn alluded to something similar about Alexander. I don't think he said immature but something along the lines of he's too overconfident. I think it's tough for a lot of these guys to go from being the best in their unit in college to riding the bench. Hopefully his mind is in the right spot now.

Highlights OTA 5

Some notes (stolen from purple thoughts)

Jarius Wright sighting: in for Thielen w/ 1's, along with Diggs and Treadwell. Michael Floyd still w/ 2's in his second week w/

Teddy Bridgewater joined the QBs for some pitch and catch after his rehab drills on the side of OTA #5.

Media got to see Teddy Bridgewater's rehab today. He did resistance work with an assistant trainer holding a rope on dropbacks.

Teddy Bridgewater looked crisp throwing some 20-yard passes today. Not cleared to "practice,'' but did some work with the QBs.

LB Emmanuel Lamur hasn't been practicing in OTAs He wouldn't say what injury is but said not serious & will on field soon in spring

Nick Easton took first-team snaps at center; TJ Clemmings played second-team RG with Willie Beavers at LT

Walking boot updates: RB Latavius Murray is out of his, still not practicing. Undrafted LB Shaan Washington now in one.

Xavier Rhodes didn't practice with the Vikings on Wednesday. His absence was neither related to injury nor...

Just a few days ago (link is up thread) we heard from Zimmer that Alexander had been immature during his rookie season, which impeded him from playing much.

Now Alexander is giving more specific info. In short, Zim envisioned him in the slot for nickel packages, Alexander wanted to cover the top WR and resisted Zim's request that he learn both positions.

Edit to add: I remember reading articles on Alexander after we drafted him and thinking he had great maturity and unlike many from his entitled generation he seemed humble and grounded. Hopefully this year's crop of rookies have an "anything for the team" mentality.
