4th rounder. seems like a lot to move up 7 picks in what is supposedly a deep draft
Oh well, I guess we'll only take 1 OL bust in the 4th this year
Was Mixon still available? Maybe they thought both of them would be gone by the time they picked. Plus, they had an extra 4th rounder.

•Cook is the ninth-ranked player in PFF’s top 300 prospects of 2017. •Cook averaged 4.2 yards after contact per attempt last season, second-highest among halfbacks in this draft class. •Cook’s 88.8 overall grade last season was second-best among halfbacks. •He led the FBS in elusive rating last season, breaking 99 tackles.
PFF's #1 Rated RB. And he ran behind a crappy O-line so he will feel right at home!

Yep. that's why it seemed a bit odd to me. there were still 3 RBs that Mayock called "1st round talent" on the board and there hasn't been a RB taken since. So why pay to move up?
I guess they really fell in love with Cook.
Don't get me wrong, I like Cook and would have been really really happy had they got him @ 48

I seen a tweet from a media member with Cook and Murray they are under 5m. Upgrade, by a lot, from last season IMO

I love this pick. And why are people talking about the 4th round already? You forget we have two 3rd rounders coming up and one is pretty early with a gang of offensive linemen still available. Only three have been taken at the time of me typing this out i think

We better start drafting OL. At least 3 or 4

The fans boo mixon and cheer Jim Brown.
Mixon is anathematized, Brandon Marshall gets his own TV show.

Excellent pick! Now THAT is the type of electric player they need!
Get some OL and a wr or TE and I'm ready to rock and roll!

Ya...so many reports Mixon would go rounds 3,4,5--or not at all. Even with video Mixon only fell, 30 spots ? not too bad for him

I will admit I did waaaay to many mocks--prolly 100+--Cook never fell to 48. I know we traded up, but I like Murray / Cook with McKinon in the mix. I hope Asiata lands a job some where, I thought he filled in admirably.

Could be, but if they go interior OL with both 3rd rounders probably no impact DT, LB, S, or TE left.
Interesting read on his upbringing and character concerns.

Re: Vikings select RB Dalvin Cook, Florida St.
So glad we got Dalvin Cook at #41. Tremendous value and he was well worth trading up for. I was afraid we were going to reach for an OL in the 2nd. With Lamp off the board there was no OL even close to Cook's value.
The report that Spielman spent 45 minutes on the phone with him today getting assurances that he wasn't going to bring his "friends" with him up to MN rings true. Several analysts had mentioned that it would do him good to get as far away from Miami as possible.
There was never any chance Spielman was going to take Mixon and I doubt the Wilfs would have approved it even if he had asked. Would not be surprised if most of the league had him off their board completely. Based on the interview Mixon did with ESPN last month makes me think the Bengals would be best served by keeping him away from the media.

I am hoping for Feeny OG
Been watching Cooks highlights he looks really quick and has a nice set of skills I know some of the big talent NFL guys said he was the most complete RB in this draft.
