teams moving out Rams/L.A. weirdness

Post by jackal »

http://www.nfl.com/news/story/0ap300000 ... is-hearing

I can see the rams owner reasoning and The Raiders will never get a new NFL stadium in Oakland IMO.
Somewhat due to the fans behavior keeping any other fans from visiting. SD Chargers sell a lot of tickets

I dated a girl from a very wealthy family in LA. Three teams won't get supported in L.A> there is just 100 things
to do in L.A. every single night; not to mention several major teams in college and pro's. I know idiot Rodger wants
the market within an NFL team but possibly sending two teams that already failed there, dumb.

This is the way the NFL and its owners strong-arm communities into spending hundreds of millions of dollars getting new stadiums built. Every time something like this comes up it's a threat to move if a stadium isn't built.

When you read the article it sounds just like what the people of Minnesota went through a couple years ago.

I can see the similarities but this has progressed a few steps beyond what happened in Minnesota. Right now I'd be pretty surprised if there wasn't a team in LA next year.

The bigger problem is that its a pain to do ANYTHING in LA with all the nightmare traffic, and very few of them are family friendly, including a trip to a baseball game these days. I think the Raiders should move to San Antonio. They've already got the colors to match the Spurs who get tremendous support there.

San Antonio would support them.. all the Air Force training goes through there and Texas economy seems healthy

Sacramento tried to get them years ago and many people from Sacramento drive to Oakland for games. I think
they had too difficult a time get the Kings arena built. The Raiders would be a tough sell right now in Sacramento.

I know the teams that struggle in L.A. won't sell tickets especially if they flood the market with several teams.

They will go to the dozens of other things available instead.

To me, the Rams make sense. In St Louis, you're competing with a strong Kansas City following and Chicago isn't far away, either. The city has made it clear that they don't want to give the Rams what they want. I feel like the vibe from both parties has been separation for a while.

Yeah they have the worst sales in the NFL in tickets based on article. The fans should own that a little. I just don't see two or three teams
that possibly are going to L.A. with USC, and UCLA being close to pro draws already.. plus two hockey teams, two NBA teams, two baseball
teams, concerts, tons of beaches, Disneyland, etc etc..

The Rams are imo, clearly going to be the team that goes to LA.

The best route here would be to get the Raiders to a "new" market, like San Antonio While similar in football numbers Texas has many fewer "major league" sports teams and is a "football state" Then you wait a decade and move the Rams back

Jerry Jones would probably be the biggest hurdle to this since SA tends to "cowboys country".

If so, they will be moving again soon. They will not find much support in LA. Only the raiders could legitimately be the LA team within the Los Angeles market. The Rams will have to change their name and form a new franchise if they want to have any chance of success.

Having grown up in Los Angeles I can tell you that nobody cared about the LA Rams except a few old people who remember them from way back. Their fans were guys with white hair and a few families who couldn't afford and wouldn't want to take their kids to a Raiders game. I was at the last Rams home game and it was mostly empty. It was all about the Raiders.

There are plenty of people that disagree fiesta, and im fairly sure LA will support them better then St. Louis.

I wouldn't bet on it. Its not like the Rams were getting good turnout before they left Los Angeles.
