And as he is looking by far the most sharp and explosive of all the RBs at the combine, will he stay out of their top 5's?
I'd love to have him behind AD as a Chester Taylor type 3rd down back.
Is it his lack of height that puts people off.
We got a lot of Oregon games on our coverage in the uk. And I was very impressed
He reminds a lot of scouts of former Ducks LaMichael James and Kenjon Barner. Both players have yet to transition well to the NFL game. Their lack of size and physicality has held them back and that's the knock on Thomas

He has always looked more nfl ready out of the three though. He's certainly a stronger build than James, and could see him do a sproles type job for an nfl team. Plus his hands are a lot more solid. If he's still around 3-4 round, I'd would love to see us snap him up.

I think the reason why he's not higher on boards though is exactly what you just said. He projects as a Sproles type back, and that's what your ideally going to get out of him. Coming from the system in Oregon where there's a lot of lateral movement before the snap combined with his lack of power makes it hard to project him as a starting RB. He's more of a change of pace guy who can be used in the kicking game and moved around the field in the passing game, but he'll have to get better as a blocker to see a lot of playing time as a change of pace.

I wouldn't expect him to go any higher than the 4th round.

Notable WR times

Sammy Watkins - WR - Player

Clemson WR Sammy Watkins ran unofficial forty times of 4.34 and 4.37 at the NFL Scouting Combine.

His "official" time was a less-eye-popping 4.43, but Watkins is still about as fast as expected. Watkins entered the Combine hoping to threaten Chris Johnson's record 4.24, but that was never realistic. He's still a burner. Watkins measured in at a robust 6-foot-1 and 211 pounds earlier in the week, leading some NFL personnel evaluators to opine his body type is running back-like. Watkins is going to be drafted with a top-five overall pick.

---
Mike Evans - WR - Player

Texas A&M WR Mike Evans clocked unofficial forty times of 4.50 and 4.47 at the NFL Combine.

His "official" forty-yard dash time was later announced at 4.53, with a 37-inch vertical. Evans was already expected to be a top-15 pick, so to call him a Combine "riser" isn't fitting. But he's been more impressive than expected, clocking these times at a freakish 6-foot-5 and 231 pounds. Evans also has insanely long arms at 35 1/8". He's like a slightly lighter Vincent Jackson.

---
Marqise Lee - WR - Player

USC WR Marqise Lee clocked unofficial forty times of 4.44 and 4.50 at the NFL Scouting Combine.

His "official" Combine forty was 4.52, with a 38-inch vertical. The forty times are fairly disappointing for a sub-6-foot receiver who goes 192 pounds. Lee was at one point considered a future top-five pick alongside Sammy Watkins, but the cream rose to the top during the 2013 season. Watkins is a lock premium pick. Lee may plummet into the middle or end of the second round.

---
Donte Moncrief - WR - Player

Ole Miss WR Donte Moncrief clocked an official 4.40 forty-yard dash at the NFL Scouting Combine.

He was "unofficially" hand-timed as fast as 4.35. The speed is impressive considering Moncrief weighed in at a solid 6-foot-2 and 221 pounds earlier in the week. A favorite of NFL Films producer Greg Cosell, Moncrief seems to be flying under the radar at this stage of the draft process, but offers future No. 1A receiving potential. He's currently in the day-two hunt.

---
Jordan Matthews - WR - Player

Vanderbilt WR Jordan Matthews clocked unofficial forty times of 4.40 and 4.44 at the NFL Scouting Combine.

His "official" forty-yard time was announced at 4.46. Matthews is productive with plus size (6'3/209), so we're not sure why he hasn't generated more pre-draft buzz. He was widely viewed as a future first-rounder during the 2013 offseason. Matthews is a film junky off the field, and drew rave reviews at the Senior Bowl. An incredibly deep wideout class still may push Matthews into the second round, where he'd be a value pick.

---
Brandin Cooks - WR - Player

Oregon State WR Brandin Cooks clocked unofficial forty times of 4.30 and 4.30 at the Scouting Combine.

His "official" time came out as 4.33, pacing this year's wide receiver field. Cook needed to run fast because he's under 5-foot-10 and 189, but he deserves credit for executing. The 2013 Biletnikoff award winner racked up 128 catches for 1,730 yards and 16 touchdowns as a junior, before declaring early. As a sophomore in 2012, Cook had 1,151 yards while playing second fiddle to Markus Wheaton. He was also used regularly on punt returns and as a ball carrier.

---
Martavis Bryant - WR - Player

Clemson WR Martavis Bryant clocked unofficial forty times of 4.34 and 4.35 at the NFL Combine.

His "official" time was announced at 4.42, with a 39-inch vertical. Bryant played second fiddle to Sammy Watkins as a junior before turning pro, operating as Clemson's primary deep-route runner. He's really helping his stock in Indy. Bryant measured in at 6-foot-4 and 211 pounds earlier in the week. Bryant was an inconsistent college pass catcher, but possesses an obvious field-stretching makeup. He's now in the day-two draft conversation.

---
Odell Beckham - WR - Player

LSU WR Odell Beckham clocked unofficial forty times of 4.31 and 4.40 at the NFL Scouting Combine.

His "official" time was later announced at 4.43, with a 38 1/2-inch vertical. One of our favorite receiver prospects, Beckham is blazing fast with similarly impressive quickness in and out of breaks. He's going to be a complete NFL receiver with a floor in the Jeremy Maclin range. Beckham weighed in at a shade over 5-foot-11 and 198 pounds earlier this week. He's likely to be an impact NFL player from day one, on returns and as a sub-package wideout.

Notable QB 40s

Johnny Manziel - QB - Player

Texas A&M QB Johnny Manziel clocked unofficial forty times of 4.63 and 4.56 at the Scouting Combine.

His "official" time was 4.68. Though "unofficial," the 4.56 hand-time mark was the fastest among Sunday morning's quarterbacks. Manziel also registered a 31 1/2-inch vertical and 9-foot-5 broad jump. Manziel's on-field work is finished, as he's not throwing in Indianapolis. Overall, his weekend has been impressive. Manziel has reportedly had solid interviews with teams. We'll get our next look at Manziel late next month at the Aggies' Pro Day.

---
Blake Bortles - QB - Player

UCF QB Blake Bortles clocked unofficial forty times of 4.81 and 4.88 at the NFL Scouting Combine.

His "official" forty-yard dash time was later announced at 4.93. Bortles' body type is similar to Andrew Luck's, but he lacks Luck's velocity as a passer and isn't as athletic from a measurables standpoint. He remains in the conversation to be the No. 1 overall pick by the quarterback-needy Texans. Bortles weighed in at 6-foot-5, 232 earlier in the week.

---
Tajh Boyd - QB - Player

Clemson QB Tajh Boyd clocked unofficial forty times of 4.75 and 4.84 at the NFL Combine.

Boyd was a better college rusher than these times indicate, primarily due to his agility and power in finishing runs. He was a fantastic short-yardage runner. Boyd's speed is not will have the biggest impact on his draft stock, however. His ball placement as a passer is highly inconsistent on film. He's going to be drafted in the mid to late rounds as a backup.

---
Derek Carr - QB - Player

Fresno State QB Derek Carr clocked unofficial forty times of 4.68 and 4.65 at the NFL Scouting Combine.

Carr wasn't a frequent college scrambler, but has plus straight-line speed, running the forty faster than the likes of Blake Bortles and Tajh Boyd. Carr also has a big arm, with which an NFL team drafting toward the end of round one may fall in love. He's on the first-round fringe with starting-caliber traits, but must improve his pocket presence and decision making in chaos.

---
David Fales - QB - Player

San Jose State QB David Fales clocked unofficial forty times of 4.94 and 5.03 at the NFL Combine.

Fales isn't a plus athlete like Andy Dalton, but his passing skill set is similar as a timing-and-rhythm thrower who lacks a big arm. Fales has a chance to enter the day-two conversation, but is going to be drafted as a clear backup.

---
Jimmy Garoppolo - QB - Player

Eastern Illinois QB Jimmy Garoppolo clocked unofficial forty times of 4.93 and 4.95 at the Scouting Combine.

He stands in at 6-foot-2, 219. Garoppolo comes from the same college that produced Tony Romo, and has generated some buzz as a potential mid-round selection. He's participated in the East-West Shrine, Senior Bowl, and now the Combine, so NFL evaluators have gotten very good looks at Garoppolo.

---
A.J. McCarron - QB - Player

Alabama QB A.J. McCarron clocked unofficial forty times of 4.94 and 4.91 at the NFL Combine.

His "official" forty time was 4.94. McCarron has quite a few victories on his Crimson Tide resume, but college won-loss record is one of the weakest indicators of NFL success. Perhaps a team will draft McCarron on day two in hopes of his arm strengthening in an NFL weight room. Currently, he lacks starting-caliber passing tools with sub-par athleticism.

---
Stephen Morris - QB - Player

Miami QB Stephen Morris clocked unofficial forty times of 4.57 and 4.62 at the NFL Scouting Combine.

Morris' stock took a nosedive during a highly inconsistent senior season, but he's got a big arm and very big hands (10 1/8") with plus athleticism. He'll certainly be worth a mid- to late-round draft flier based on talent.

---
Logan Thomas - QB - Player

Virginia Tech QB Logan Thomas clocked unofficial forty times of 4.57 and 4.60 at the NFL Scouting Combine.

Per the Combine's "official" results, Thomas led all QBs in the forty-yard dash (4.61), vertical (35.5"), and broad jump (9'10"). He measured in at 6-foot-6 1/8, 248 earlier in the week. Thomas was a full-time quarterback at Virginia Tech, but there have been some whispers that a handful of NFL clubs may try converting him to tight end. He certainly has measurables to execute the switch. Thomas turns 23 years old in July.

---
Tom Savage - QB - Player

Pittsburgh QB Tom Savage clocked unofficial forty times of 4.85 and 5.00 at the NFL Scouting Combine.

Savage is lightly discussed in the draftnik community, but he's been tabbed as this year's top "sleeper" quarterback by NFL Network's Mike Mayock. He bounced around colleges, transferring from Rutgers to Arizona to Pittsburgh. Savage has plus size (6'4/228), passable athleticism, and plenty of arm talent. NFL.com's Gil Brandt at one point compared Savage to Troy Aikman.

Notable RB 40s

Isaiah Crowell - RB - Player

Alabama State RB Isaiah Crowell clocked an official forty-yard dash time of 4.57 at the NFL Combine.

He weighed in at 5-foot-11, 224 earlier in the week. More Crowell measurements: 23 bench reps, 38-inch vertical, and 9-foot-9 broad jump. They're solid measurables across the board for the onetime five-star Georgia recruit, who transferred to Alabama State after being thrown off the Bulldogs' team. Strictly in terms of talent, Crowell is the best running back in the 2014 class.

---
Bishop Sankey - RB - Player

Washington RB Bishop Sankey clocked an official forty time of 4.49 at the Combine.

He did 26 reps on the bench to rank second among running backs in Indy, and tied for fourth in the broad jump (10-foot-6). We were less impressed with Sankey during our initial tape reviews, but his Combine was very strong and he's currently Mike Mayock's No. 3 tailback prospect. We'll have to go back and study him some more. Mayock has likened Sankey to Giovani Bernard.

---
Lache Seastrunk - RB - Player

Baylor RB Lache Seastrunk's official forty time at the Combine was 4.51.

It was quite a bit slower than Seastrunk's pre-Combine prediction of 4.3s, but still not a poor time for the 5-foot-10, 201-pound prospect. Seastrunk had a very good Combine, leading all RBs in the broad (11-foot-2) and vertical (41 1/2") jumps. Seastrunk will be a high-ceiling second-day draft pick

---
James White - RB - Player

Wisconsin RB James White clocked unofficial forty times of 4.52 and 4.53 at the NFL Scouting Combine.

They're good-not-great times for White, and generally expected. He's more of a patient, intelligent runner than homerun hitter. White played in committees with Montee Ball and Melvin Gordon III during his Badgers career. He's likely to be a middle-round draft pick with fairly limited upside.

---
De'Anthony Thomas - RB - Player

Oregon RB De'Anthony Thomas clocked unofficial forty times of 4.34 and 4.40 at the NFL Scouting Combine.

His "official" time was later announced at 4.50, which is going to sting a player whose game is so reliant on speed. Some NFL teams may struggle to pinpoint Thomas' position in the pros because at 5-foot-9 and 174 pounds, he certainly will not be a feature runner. He's like a slower version of Dri Archer.

---
Charles Sims - RB - Player

West Virginia RB Charles Sims clocked unofficial forty times of 4.47 and 4.48 at the NFL Scouting Combine.

They're very good times for a back considered "ordinary" in some circles. Sims has drawn Matt Forte comparisons for his size (6'0/214) and all-around game. He is the premier pass protector in this year's running back class, and can now add plus long speed to his resume. Sims is not quite a special talent, but has a chance to play early in the NFL. His on-field "FBI" (football intelligence) stands out consistently on West Virginia tape.

---
Tre Mason - RB - Player

Auburn RB Tre Mason clocked unofficial forty times of 4.44 and 4.50 at the NFL Scouting Combine.

These times are going to help his draft stock. Mason measured in at 5-foot-9, 207 earlier in the week, and had a 38 1/2-inch vertical. If his NFL running backs coach can get Mason to run with more decisiveness around the line of scrimmage, he'll offer big-time running potential with light feet and lateral agility. Mason also has a very long way to go in pass protection, however, as noted by Mike Mayock on NFL Network's Sunday telecast.

---
Devonta Freeman - RB - Player

Florida State RB Devonta Freeman clocked unofficial forty times of 4.50 and 4.53 at the NFL Scouting Combine.

Freeman isn't a burner at 5'8/206, but has quality tape with impressive acceleration. He's also this year's second best pass-protecting back, behind only West Virginia's Charles Sims. It's why we believe Freeman has a chance to play early in his NFL career, even if he's a mid-round pick. Rotoworld draft guru Josh Norris has pegged Freeman as this year's version of Andre Ellington.

---
Dri Archer - RB - Player

Kent State RB Dri Archer clocked unofficial forty times of 4.28 and 4.29 at the NFL Scouting Combine.

His "official" forty time was even faster, clocking 4.26 -- two hundredths of a second shy of Chris Johnson's Combine record of 4.24. Archer was fully expected to run well in Indy. He projects as a versatile gadget-type player in the NFL, who may wind up seeing most of his snaps at slot receiver and on special teams. Archer measured in at 5-foot-8 and 173 pounds.

Notable "Other" measurables

Jadeveon Clowney - DL - Player

South Carolina DE Jadeveon Clowney clocked forty times of 4.47 and 4.48 at the NFL Scouting Combine.

As expected, Clowney is highly explosive in every area. He's 6-foot-5, 266, so the 4.47-4.48 forty-yard dash is equally or arguably even more impressive than Chris Johnson's record 4.24 time at 5-foot-11, 197. We saw some criticism on Clowney for managing "only" 21 reps of 225 pounds on the bench press, but in actuality that is a rock-solid total for a player with 34 1/2-inch arms. Clowney remains in the conversation to be drafted at No. 1 overall, and he certainly won't get beyond the Falcons at No. 6.

---
Aaron Donald - DL - Player

Pittsburgh DT Aaron Donald clocked forty times of 4.65 and 4.66 at the NFL Scouting Combine.

Donald is 6-foot-1, 285, so he was carrying some serious weight en route to faster forty times than much of this year's underwhelming running back field. Donald is a high-motor prospect with a skill set not too dissimilar from Geno Atkins'. He projects as a fringe first-round pick in May's draft.

---
Xavier Su'a-Filo - G - Player

UCLA OG Xavier Su'a-Filo ran an official forty time of 5.04 at the NFL Scouting Combine.

It's the second fastest forty time among guards, and he led all interior linemen in the 20-yard shuttle. Su'a-Filo has quality arm length for a guard (33 3/8"). He managed just 25 bench press reps, but is considered an effective pass blocker. He projects as a fringe first-round pick. Su'a-Filo is pushing Stanford's David Yankey to be the first guard selected in May.

---
Eric Ebron - TE - Player

North Carolina TE Eric Ebron ran twin forty-yard dash times of 4.50 at the NFL Scouting Combine.

He's really, really fast for a 6-foot-4 3/8 and 250-pound player, though somehow Ebron's "official" forty time was announced at 4.60. Ebron's college touchdown production left something to be desired, but his on-field skill set is similar to Vernon Davis' as a complete tight end with outrageous athleticism and straight-line speed. We expect him to be a top-15 draft pick.

---
Jace Amaro - TE - Player

Texas Tech TE Jace Amaro ran forty times of 4.62 and 4.66 at the NFL Scouting Combine, though his "official" time was 4.72.

He weighed in at 6-foot-5 3/8 and 265 pounds Friday, and led all tight ends on the bench press with 28 reps. Amaro was an extremely productive collegian and has an ideal size-speed combination for the increasingly tight end-heavy NFL. He projects as a mid to late first-rounder.

---
David Yankey - G - Player

Stanford OG David Yankey managed 22 reps of 225 pounds at the NFL Combine.

He also managed a 5.48 forty time, among the slowest by an offensive linemen. Yankey goes nearly 6-foot-6 and 315 pounds with 34-inch arms. He played guard in college but has tackle size.

---
Greg Robinson - T - Player

Auburn OT Greg Robinson ran an official forty time of 4.92 at the NFL Scouting Combine.

He was hand-timed as fast as 4.84. These are truly insane times for a 6-foot-5, 332-pound human being. Heads spun when Dontari Poe ran 4.89 at 346 pounds during the 2012 Combine, and Robinson's feat is similar. Robinson also bench pressed 225 pounds 32 times, a remarkable number for a guy with 35-inch arms. The 21-year-old is going to be a top-six draft pick, and could go as early as No. 2 overall to St. Louis. Robinson is a game-changing run blocker on tape.

---
Jadeveon Clowney - DL - Player

South Carolina DE Jadeveon Clowney measured 6-foot-5 1/8 and 266 pounds at Saturday's Scouting Combine weigh-in.

He has freaky 34 1/2-inch arms and an 83-inch wingspan. For comparison's sake, Jason Pierre-Paul's Combine weigh-in was 6-foot-5, 270 with 34 3/4-inch arms. JPP is a better comparison for Clowney than Mario Williams or Julius Peppers, at least in terms of body type. Clowney is a lock top-six draft pick.

---
Dee Ford - DL - Player

Auburn DE Dee Ford measured 6-foot-2 1/8 and 252 pounds at the NFL Scouting Combine weigh-in.

His college listing was just 240, and Ford weighed 243 as recently as the Senior Bowl, so his weight gain was a pleasant pre-draft surprise. Ford also has 32 7/8-inch arms and a 77-inch wingspan. Teams seem to envision Ford as more of a situational pass rusher, but he can rush the quarterback and that is one of the most valuable traits in the NFL. He's a likely first-round pick.

Kony Ealy - DL - Player

Missouri DE Kony Ealy clocked forty times of 4.84 and 4.84 at the NFL Scouting Combine.

Ealy is widely credited for attracting all of the attention from opposing offenses that allowed less-talented teammate Michael Sam to post a high volume of sacks. He's NFL Network draft analyst Mike Mayock's No. 2 defensive end prospect, behind only Jadeveon Clowney. Mayock projects Ealy (6'4/273) as a 4-3 left end, not unlike St. Louis' Chris Long. Long is a bit more athletic, however.

---
Ra'Shede Hageman - DL - Player

Minnesota DT Ra'Shede Hageman clocked forty times of 4.97 and 5.02 at the NFL Scouting Combine.

A fifth-year senior who'll be 24 as a rookie, Hageman projects as a five-technique defensive end without the requisite explosion to consistently affect the quarterback from the interior. NFL Network's Warren Sapp also observed that Hageman plays too high to be an effective 4-3 tackle. At 6-foot-6, 310, Hageman will need to be a hold-the-point end, likely in a two-gap scheme

---
Timmy Jernigan - DL - Player

Florida State DT Timmy Jernigan clocked forty times of 4.93 and 5.09 at the NFL Scouting Combine.

Although Jernigan has the body type of a three technique at 6-foot-2, 292, his athletic skill set suggests he may actually fit better as a bit of an undersized nose tackle in a 4-3. That's also where NFL personnel men currently appear to be projecting him. Jernigan is a fringe first-round prospect.

---
Dee Ford - DL - Player

Auburn DE Dee Ford has withdrawn from NFL Combine workouts for medical reasons.

According to the NFL Network, exams revealed an issue relating to a 2011 surgery Ford underwent for a herniated disc in his lower back. For now, it doesn't look like a major red flag. The projected first-round pick says he feels fine and ESPN's Louis Riddick hears doctors are just being "cautious." Auburn's pro day is scheduled for March 4.

Louis Nix - DL - Player

Notre Dame NT Louis Nix clocked forty times of 5.35 and 5.37 at the NFL Scouting Combine.

Nix weighed in at a Wilforkian 6-foot-2 3/8 and 331 pounds earlier in the week. Nix has defensive anchor-type ability, but displays a tendency to wear down when asked to log too many snaps, and play "high" when tired. That's the case for many 330-plus-pound defensive linemen, of course. Nix is a projected first-rounder who figures to particularly appeal to teams that run 3-4 defenses.
