Re: Hernandez to Be Questioned About a Murder
Anyone placing bets on how soon the Pats dump his ####? This is a PR nightmare for them and the fact that the team or Hernandez hasn't issued a public statement speaks volumes. I also read that Belichick is on vacation in Europe, so I imagine he's probably ready to kill Hernandez himself. He finally takes some time off to get away and this crap happens.

Aaron Hernandez - TE - Patriots
A law enforcement source tells CBS Boston an arrest warrant has been issued for Aaron Hernandez on an obstruction of justice charge, and that it's possible it could "eventually be upgraded."
ABC News reports Hernandez has not been ruled out as a suspect in the murder of Odin Lloyd. According to CBS Boston, it is "not yet clear" when Hernandez might be arrested, or what the charges could be upgraded to. The obstruction of justice charge is presumably related to allegations that Hernandez destroyed his home-security system and cell phone. It's important to remember that most of the "facts" in the case remain hearsay at this point. The police are doing their due diligence before announcing any charges or making an official statement. It's possible one or both could come Friday.

Why would he destroy his security system? And his phone? Pretty sure he can't destroy his call records and probably incoming/outgoing text messages.

Two teammates tell Sports Illustrated's Greg A. Bedard Aaron Hernandez "got more brazen" after signing his seven-year, $41.115 million extension last August.
Worries about Hernandez's past apparently extended beyond his marijuana issues in college, with reports indicating in recent days teams were concerned about reported gang ties in his native Connecticut. "Brazenness" is certainly suggested by Hernandez's rumored/alleged pattern of violence this offseason. His NFL future is as clear as mud.

Wow.
Adam Schefter on TwitterShould Aaron Hernandez be unable to start season, Patriots could open 2013 with their 5 leading receivers from 2012 not in lineup.

A law enforcement official told the Boston Globe that 27-year-old murder victim Odin Lloyd was shot "multiple times" before his death in a Massachusetts industrial park.
"He was killed where they found the body," said the official. "He was shot multiple times." Multiple shots likely rule out a Jayson Williams-style accidental shooting, where Williams attempted to cover up the incident post-event. The same law official told the Globe that Aaron Hernandez continues to be uncooperative with police. He's expected to be arrested on obstruction-of-justice charges Friday, which could later be upgraded pending more evidence.

Re: Hernandez to Be Questioned About a Murder
He destroyed them, probably at the advice of his lawyer(s), because facing an obstruction of justice charge for destroying evidence is probably less harsh than dealing with a murder charge (or accessory to murder) had that evidence been intact and used against him.dead_poet wrote:Why would he destroy his security system? ...and ya...the DA can just call up the NSA and ask them for his call/text history

Can you be arrested for destroying your own property if it hasn't actually been deemed "evidence" yet?

The whole thing about the cell phone being destroyed... can't you look up the history of the phone via phone records?

Re: Hernandez arrested
Aaron Hernandez - TE - Patriots
Aaron Hernandez was taken out of his house in handcuffs Wednesday morning.
At roughly 8:45 a.m. ET, authorities knocked on Hernandez's door. He answered without a shirt on and looked surprised when told he was being taken into custody. Hernandez was placed in handcuffs and led to a police vehicle. As of now, we don't know exactly what the charge is. Reports from last week stated an arrest warrant had been issued for obstruction of justice. Hernandez allegedly destroyed his cell phone and home security system in the hours following the murder of semi-pro football player Odin Lloyd. Surveillance video showed Hernandez and Lloyd together hours before the murder.
