What in the..WHAT?! No. Not really, right? T-Jack to RETURN?

Post by dead_poet »

Interesting report from @JasonColeYahoo that Vikes are among teams interested in Tarvaris Jackson. Never thought Spielman was a big fan.

Um. Okay. Possibilities.

1. Crap. Utter, utter crap.
2. Vikings want to weaken a division rival by scooping up a guy that's a decent backup to keep him out of GB's hands and force them to stick with Harrell (even though McCoy is out there for cheap)
3. Cut Sage, move Webb to...somewhere. KR/PR, receiver, safety, CB, coordinator, head chef, soothsayer, magi, something?
4. LOADS of crap/malarky.

Maybe they can use him at Wide Receiver.

Maybe they aren't interested. Maybe they just say they are in hopes that the Packers make sort of a panic move and maybe give up more then they were actually planning?

Ditto.

Maybe Jason Cole needs some new sources?

I still think Jackson is a capable backup and if he were to come back in that capacity (knowing he would not be the starter) I would be fine with it. Jackson was just not starter material. Could he beat out Rosenfels? Possibly. Webb? Again, Possibly. Ponder? Nope. I wouldn't give up anything for him, but if we could get him as a back-up, I would not have heartburn with it. Remember, I was one of the vocal critics of Jackson when he was here because he is NOT a starting QB. He can manage a game or two if Ponder has to go out in the season for an injury.

OK - I know I'm in the minority here - Flame away! :flamed: :D

I won't flame you for it. I just don't see any real point in bringing Jackson in as a backup. Would he give them a better chance to win than either of the current backups could give them?

Awww ... if only TJ had been given a proper chance with the Seahawks I'm sure he would have solidified his place as starter.

I honestly think Webb is a better "change of pace" QB than Jackson, but if they "try them out" and Jackson wins the spot, then I have no issues. Part of my problem with Jackson before was that Rosenfels (or whomever - Take your pick) would actually play better than Jackson and Childress would still list Jackson as #1 (or #2 when Favre was here) regardless of the fact that Jackson wasn't playing as well as the guy below him in the depth chart.

Would this move end the Webb experiment and allow the Vikes to shift him to WR or returner? If so, I support it 100% because Webb needs to be on the field.
