1) What do you mean by "recycling itself"? Like going out of it's way to 'clear the mess', so to speak? If that's the case, then no ... because that would imply the world has a "will" when in fact the world simply has conditions. Suck up all the natural resources ... 'pollute' the air ... chop down the rain forest ... the world doesn't care about these things. Those are conditions that are bad for humans, the world will just keep spinning.
2) Batteries. Many ancient cultures had primitive types of batteries that I'm fairly sure modern man had no concept of before constructing a new one.
The only way something can be truly "reinvented" is if the party inventing it didn't have prior knowledge. Otherwise it's just an upgrade to an existing invention, completely new, or a rip off.
