This past weekend, the WCHA once again proved it is the best conference in women's college hockey, as the University of Minnesota Duluth (Go Dogs!) won the National Championship with a 3-2 triple overtime win over Cornell. This is UMD's fifth National Championship and the WCHA's tenth. (There have only been ten.)
The Dogs were not expected to perform this well this year, due to losing five of its best players (and number one goalie) to the Olympics. All five will be back next year, when expectations will be high for UMD to once again defend its championship.
UMD finished the year 31-8-2. Cornell finished 21-9-6. Also in the Frozen Four were Minnesota (26-9-5), who lost to UMD in the semis, and Mercyhurst ( 30-3-3), who had been ranked number 1 in the country for 22 straight weeks.

Go Lady BullDogs!! I just wish the Mens team could be as good as the Lady Dogs. Maybe the new stadium will help. Amsoil Arena.
