I think the article is blowing things out of proportion. First of all, Brock was getting booed no matter what, Mir is from Las Vegas which the author conveniently left out. And I'm pretty sure it was Mir who said something first. He stumbled to his feet and walked over to Brock after the fight. He wasn't sitting on a stool getting his equilibrium.

Whatever. Brock would have no chance against Fedor though.

Brock is an absolute animal and Frank "the mouth" Mir found out just how bad Lesnar is. The supposed submission specialist was on his back all night taking shots to the face, unable to do a thing. The crowd was in Mir's corner because hes from LV.

I dont think Fedor will beat Brock and to say that Brock "doesnt stand a chance" is really over the top IMO.

Fedor is the best fighter in the sport, Brock has 5 fights, and got caught by a mid-level fighter. The last two ex-UFC Heavyweight champions Fedor fought he knocked out in what, less than 3 minutes, combined? He's dangerous off his back, and has some very good stand up. I'm not sure I'd go as far as to say Brock has no chance, but at this point I don't think it's really that far off.

Lets see how Fedor does against Josh Barnett. It should be an interesting fight although I expect a Fedor victory. Its not like Brock has fought girl scouts here and I think everyone would love to see this matchup.

If Fedor is so bad, why doesnt he come to the UFC and prove it? I like the guy just fine and hes definately the best heavy outside the UFC but hes pretty comfy just beating former UFC guys right now and to me thats not proving hes the best.

It's not like the UFC is the NFL and Affliction is the Canadian Football league. Maybe Fedor does come to the UFC after his contract is over but if he doesn't that doesn't mean he's fighting lesser competition in Pride/Affliction.

Brock looked a little more polished this fight but he's not on the same level as Fedor.

Because they won't give him anything less than a 6 fight contract (Fertitta stated this in an interview). They won't let him compete in any other sport (including Combat Sambo for his country). And have a clause that he especially disliked stating if he's champion he can not leave unless he loses, and if he loses at any point the UFC can cut him with no repercussions.

Affliction is paying just as much, giving him better competition, and allowing him a lot of leeway. There's no reason for him to not fight there. Barnett is pretty clearly the #2 heavyweight in the world, and he's fighting him. At the time Arlovski and Sylvia were both top 10. The UFC heavyweight division, other than an unproven Brock, is their weakest division.

Hopefully it happens but I'm not holding my breath, White hasn't been known for bending to anything, much less contract demands. And after the EA sports deal, and sponsorship crap, not sure it's going to happen, even with his recent comments.

Barnett is a better fight anyway. He's been tested, his chin, his top and bottom game. Might not have the range or be as specialized as Brock, but overall he's a superior fighter and matchup at this point. Really looking forward to that fight, and the card.

If this guy wasnt "Brock Lesnar" and had accomplished what he has accomplished this early into a MMA career, many of you instead of being critical, would be falling all over yourselves about his potential and what a great MMA artist he would become.

Brock is very new to this sport and has beat the living #### out of Couture and Mir now. Hes shown vast improvement in a very short amount of time and who knows what kind of beast he will be in another year or two. By the way, Lesnar is 4-1 and Fedor at this same stage was 4-1. Somebody cited that Fedor had beaten UFC's Tim Sylvia? Really? Tim Sylvia? Who has ever considered this goon a good fighter? Now Fedor has defeated some very talented fighters, which is why I have no idea why Tim freaken Sylvia would even be brought into this.

Lesnar takes things seriously, hes no Frank Mir. I expect him to continue to improve and become and even better fighter than he is right now. The only unfortunate thing is that its looking unlikely that they will ever meet given the rigid stance on each side of the Fedor/White negotiations.

You might have a point there, however, the guy has outweighed his competition by a good 30-40 lbs. Don't let the weigh in fool you, he does not fight at 265.

Obviously it's not his fault the UFC doesn't have another weight class (which I think it needs) but I think that's what detracts a lot of people from thinking of him as an elite fighter.

Sylvia has been the UFC heavyweight champion numerous times.

I agree that's probably the most unfortunate part. The UFC heavyweight division is pretty weak and anything other than a Lesnar/Fedor fight doesn't really interest me.

Its not his fault, no more than being quicker, smarter or better at any one thing is ever a fighters "fault". I disagree that they need another division for a bigger fighter like Brock, so what we can water down both Heavyweight and Super Heavyweight then? There arent enough good Heavyweights the way it is.

Listen, Brock is a freak of nature and thats not his fault any more than it was Jim Brown's, OJ Simpsons or Babe Ruths.
Sylvia has been the UFC heavyweight champion numerous times.
Which just goes to show how lacking that division is for more talented fighters.

I'll always be interested in watching Lesnar but I'd kill to see Fedor and him mix it up.

Brock fought Randy Couture at 276 lbs, according to Brock himself, on the ESPN postgame show after UFC 91. I am guessing he was in the same pound range for the Mir fight. Its not all about the weight. Royce Gracie proved that in the early UFC days. If it was all about the weight someone like a Bob Sapp would be undefeated in MMA. Brock uses the his weight to his advantage no doubt but there are alot more reasons he is on top of the UFC division right now. One example. All you heard was how great Mir was at his ju jitsu (sic) and Brock manhandled him on the ground. Had Brock not had great submission defense the fight more than likely would have had a different outcome. Mir is great on the ground and Brock pounded him into neverland on the ground.

MMA has evolved so much since the early days where guys like Gracie dominated. Gracie changed the sport no doubt but there's no way he would be as dominant today as he was in early UFC. Look at what Matt Hughes did to Royce as an example.

Obviously weight is not everything but if you have near equal talent, outweighing your opponent by 30 pounds is a huge (no pun intended) advantage.

I don't mean to take anything away from Brock, he's a champion wrestler but my point was that he will never be perceived as an elite "pound for pound" fighter like an Anderson Silva, Machida or BJ Penn. Maybe if he can pull off a win against a guy like Fedor but he won't win a whole lot of respect beating up the heavy's in the UFC.

brock reminds me of a bigger version of mark coleman when he was younger. brocks great at ground and pound. but i can see fedor beating him with a submission in the guard. brock should train entirely on submissions. i'd like too see brock fight arvloski, atonio nogueria, or gonzaga first before taking on fedor. love too see rampage, forrest, or mauricio rua move up to heavyweight
