Trans-Siberean Orchestra

Post by jackal »

I went to see TSO this evening in Sacramento
and it was by far the best Concert I have ever seen.
They played for almost three hours straight. The light show
matched the intensity of the performance without a doubt.

I have wanted to see them for years and now understand
people rave about this show so much.
no one expects the Spanish Inquisition!

I did not know they had a metal band before doing TSO, I will have to check that out. I love progressive metal.

I am a progressive metal fan as well. Savatage was some great concept albums.

Nice Yngwie Malmsteen Quote "All Day Owns You". The "Marching Out" album is one of my favorites.

Get Gutter ballet, Hall Of The Mountain King of my fave EDGE OF THORNS.

They had the most underrated guitar player of all time, Criss Oliva. He was killed by a drunk driver. When you see the white guitar on the TSO album covers, it's his guitar.

Got to admit, I'm not a fan of his. he's great and all, just not my thing. I like a little more heart in my guitar players.

I've seen 'em twice. Loved it both times but the second time, the lead guy came out wearing a Steelers jersey and the Steelers were beating the tar out of the Vikes. They kept announcing the score. It WAS in Pittsburgh so I suppose I shouldn't be too upset. ;-)

I'm curious about them myself, Jackal. I wasn't impressed with the few minutes I heard on a Direct TV concert, but others have raved ... so now I'm wondering too. If they ever get back on Direct TV, I'll give them a second chance.

I don't think TV can capture this.

performance

Post by jackal »

from a performance standpoint I have never seen
a concert better than that one.

the second best was Day On the Green in Oakland
Journey, Foreigner, and Reo Speedwagon

Journey was performing escape album for the part
and foreigner was performing Foreigner 4 album.

the tickets were only a few bucks it was a benfit concert
for something bay area related I believe. 81-82 era
no one expects the Spanish Inquisition!
