Watching Live on both CNN and KSTP via the Internet. Is this section of the bridge just North East of the Metrodome and Washington Ave?

That's the section. They have a map over at the Strib.

All of us outside of the Twin Cities are thinking of you guys. Hope the casualty count is very, very minimal.

What a scary scene. It looks like armegeddon. The whole freakin thing is gone, in the water. Looks like maybe half mile of bridge? The more video/pics I see the scarier it gets.

I'm guessing when the bridge went it was at least a 40 foot drop for most. Some would land near the shore on both sides others wouldn't be that lucky... even if they could survive the fall.

I can't imagine how this happened. The bridge was under repair at the time. There is a report that several of the supports were questioned at the last inspection.

Going down to the Cities from Duluth, I always take 35W and drive over that very bridge. If I had been going to the Twins game tonight, I would have been very near that point when it went down. Kind of a scary thought.

I remember thinking, while I was watching the coverage on CNN, that this kind of thing doesn't happen in Minnesota. We get tornadoes and floods, but not this. It's kind of mind numbing.

I've been over that bridge many times.

It's sort of strange, because that bridge and the old Mendota Heights bridge were always sort of scary to cross.

This has been a really bad day.

Nope. Some kind of structural failure is the leading supposition at this point.
