They'll probably just do like they did with Peyton and clear them after they interview them. It's all about publicity.

I honestly think they want their players using HGH and other performance enhancers. Football is a physically demanding sports and it keeps their stars playing through the nagging injuries and enhances the level of play. Not only does it benefit the players financially to use PEDs but the league also benefits as well.
For Godell and the owners, its about money... pure and simple...These are billionare owners, who can never have enough money. I don't
think they probably care deep down. Its really on the players to control what they use. If they want to be the best chances are they will
have to push the limit, maybe more. There might be a few one in a million guys; that can play clean, and be the best, but I would say
that is the exception, to the rule.

Personally I would use them to make 40 million or more in a career. If you did simple safe investments and didn't spend much
for 5-10 years you could live a very easy life for generations of your family.

This article has already been recanted by the writer, and still the players are expected to comply with the investigation because of it? That sets a dangerous precedent in the NFLPA's eyes.

Are you sure it was recanted by the writer? What I'm finding is that it was recanted by the guy who claimed to give the players the drugs. However, he was recorded without his knowledge so he never intended it to be "on the record" in the first place. Can you really "recant" something only after you realize a bunch of people heard it?

he source behind the allegations (Charlie Sly) has retracted his statement.

"In the documentary, Sly also mentioned Philadelphia Phillies first baseman Ryan Howard, Washington Nationals infielder Ryan Zimmerman and boxer Mike Tyson as athletes who received HGH shipments from him while he worked at the Guyer Institute.

Sly said he was "testing" Al Jazeera's undercover reporter by dropping "names like Peyton Manning, Derek Jeter, Ryan Howard and James Harrison." He said none were clients. While Manning, Howard and Harrison were mentioned in Al Jazeera's HGH investigation, Jeter was not.

"When I realized Al Jazeera was using a secret taping and Collins as a so-called investigative reporter, I was baffled," Sly said. "I cannot believe that can happen. That's why I recanted the story. It wasn't true, and I was trying to pull one over on Collins to see if he had any idea of what he was talking about."

I guess that may be true to an extent, but I think it makes this situation infinitely sillier.

So which time am I supposed to believe he's lying again? The time he thought he was saying something in confidence or this public statement? I know which one I'm more inclined to believe.

I don't know the entire situation ... but I find it extremely unlikely that he was "testing" Al Jazeera ...

That's my point ... both things came from his mouth.

One thing came out of his mouth when he didn't think anybody was listening. The other thing came out of his mouth when he knew everybody was listening. If the players aren't going to submit to testing then I suppose we both can just believe what we want.

I dont see what benefit would it be of his to lie and recant his statement about players on steroids knowing fullwell they are already under investigation, I think that would not be in his best interest.

Furthermore, Peyton Manning was also mentioned to no avail.

The NFLPA does not want their players submitting to investigation on the basis of a recanted and self disgraced article.

What benefit was it of his to lie in the first place?

The benefit at this point seems pretty obvious as far as recanting. No athlete is going to touch this guy with a 10 foot pole now and he's a supplement salesman ...

It'd be like if your wife or girlfriend overheard a phone call wherein you were having an affair. Go ahead, recant that. "I was just testing to see if you were spying on me!"

But then why was Manning interviewed and cleared? The fallout from blatantly lying in defense of roiding players under investigation seems to carry even heavier implications.

So what you're saying is Manning got cleared after he was interviewed? If only there was a way for the other players to do the same ...

The NFLPA does not want their players to submit to what the NFLPA believes to be an unfair, and unfounded investigation based upon recanted and self disgraced comments, as stated before, that sets a dangerous precedent. Manning was not a member of the NFLPA and was acting independently.

If prior mentioned recanted and self disgraced comments were solid, why was Peyton Manning cleared?

If it's unfair then how did Manning clear it? There was a legitimate cause for concern and the NFL wanted to investigate it. Manning had nothing to hide and complied.

Again, the NFLPA does not want its players setting the precedent of being obliged to comply with an investigation based upon self disgraced, recanted comments (That, in their eyes, is the unfair part of this), Peyton Manning was not a part of, nor subject to any NFLPA influence,. Clay and J Pep are both members.

Manning passing with ease only further strengthened the idea that basing an investigation upon self disgraced comments is unfounded and unnecessary, you seem to not understand that the NFLPA sees more at stake here then the status of two players.
