In a memo obtained by NFL Media Insider Ian Rapoport, Birch outlined a plan to interview Green Bay Packers linebackers Julius Peppers and Clay Matthews and Pittsburgh Steelers linebacker James Harrison on the first day of their respective training camps. The interview for former Packers linebacker Mike Neal, currently a free agent, is scheduled to take place on or before July 22.

The NFL is conducting the investigation, Birch emphasized, because the Al-Jazeera America documentary "raised serious issues concerning their possible violation of the NFL/NFLPA Policy on Performance-Enhancing Substances."

J Pep is really just a pass rush specialist these days, not really a huge part of the D.

Peppers is already a documented Steroid user and there is more smoke around Clay Matthews than a CA wildfire. There is no revelation here except that the NFL is investigating what we all already know to be true.

Clay has always been a popular target for steroid allegations, but he has already been very adamant and vocal about increasing performnace enhancer testing, they arent going to find #### on him, guarantee it.

As I said, Clay has always been adamant about increasing testing for that sort of thing, they can randomly test him twice a year for the rest of his career, they arent finna find nothing but a whole lot of talk, just like this article.

Jordy, humor me and suppose they did take him up on that offer and found that he was indeed using steroids. How would it change your opinion of Clay Matthews?

Lance Armstrong was always saying the same thing... Just sayin'. I think you're fooling yourself if you don't think there are steroids in the NFL. Sometimes the ones who are the most adamant are the ones using. Not saying that's true for Clay, because obviously I don't know for sure. But if I was a betting man, I know which way I'd go with that one.

I would guess about half of all players are taking something or skimming the edge of some experimental drug.. You have guys that are 300 pounds running
like deer and jump like Air Jordan.. I mean come on that kinda talent is like one or two in a generation of people. Matthews looks like he is on roids ....

He went into an episode of roid rage last year against Mike Harris, punching him in the helmet while he was on the ground. He got flagged for it, but mysteriously was not ejected.

How can you have roid rage if you arent on roids? :) Baseless accusations get us nowhere.

If the four or five players refuse interview, suspensions likely

Nevertheless, since the initiation of our investigation in January the league has made at least seven attempts to arrange interviews of Messrs. Harrison, Matthews, Neal and Peppers. On each occasion, the NFLPA has communicated the players' refusal to participate. Most recently, the NFLPA has attempted to prevent the interviews by submitting for each player a half-page statement, which you advised should be treated as a sworn statement given in a legal proceeding, and which you contend should fulfill the players' acknowledged obligation to cooperate with the investigation. The statements, however, are wholly devoid of any detail, and we were quickly able to determine that Mr. Neal's statement includes an assertion that is demonstrably false. Rather than eliminate the need for interviews, the players' plainly deficient statements simply underscore the importance of obtaining their full cooperation.

wow seven times

They'll probably just do like they did with Peyton and clear them after they interview them. It's all about publicity.

I honestly think they want their players using HGH and other performance enhancers. Football is a physically demanding sports and it keeps their stars playing through the nagging injuries and enhances the level of play. Not only does it benefit the players financially to use PEDs but the league also benefits as well.
