Manziel in Rehab

Post by Texas Vike »

What a relief that we didn't end up picking this guy.

Those who spoke talked of a yearlong pattern that showed a lack of commitment and preparation, a failure to be ready when given a chance in his first start against Cincinnati and a continued commitment to nightlife, which affected his preparation and work while in the team facility.

No kidding, although I feel bad for Browns fans. They can't catch a break. I still think they should keep Hoyer for a few more years.

Yeah, although hopefully he'll follow through on this, get his act together and be a good player for the Browns. That team, and especially their fans, could use a break.

It's a sad situation, but I'm glad he's getting help.

Yeah, I Agree. I feel so bad for Browns fans... they are possibly the only fanbase that has had it as bad as the Viking fanbase.
I am glad he is getting help. It would be nice to see him turn his life around.

Don't hate on my Buckeyes. Some of the best Vikings went to Ohio State.

I wondered if it was booze or something else? or both...

God, I am glad we didn't draft, this guy...

I honestly was shocked he got drafted in the first round. The trouble at the Manning camp
and every NFL legend QB was not high on this guy. The Vegas trips ..celebrity attitude
before even got drafted .. The Browns are morons.. Ryan Leaf was a better pick so far,
no one expects the Spanish Inquisition!

Yeah, I'm glad we don't need to have that discussion about our not-quite-a-rookie-anymore quarterback. It's possible, as the author repeatedly suggested, that Manziel is simply incapable of being a good NFL player but I think he showed in college that he has the talent to be a pretty effective quarterback. I wasn't there to watch him practice last year but I'm betting his biggest problem was not taking the job seriously enough, not putting in the work. If he emerges from rehab a truly changed, dedicated young QB, I can still imagine him developing into a good NFL starter down the road. However, that's a big "if" and his track record doesn't exactly suggest he'll find and sustain that kind of dedication.

I guess it just depends on how badly he wants to succeed.
