Interesting. Marrone got the Bills to their best record in 10 years, and just narrowly missed the playoffs. There must be something else going on.
Maybe he wants to pursue another coaching job, we'll see I suppose.

He wants to coach the Jets... For some reason.

The Devil whispered in the Viking's ear, "There's a storm coming." The Viking replied, "I am the storm." #SKOL2018

He also seems to have worked out his deal so he gets paid in full from Bills for this next year no matter what.It was expected that Bills coach Doug Marrone would choose not to exercise his three-day option to leave the Bills. (When someone told me today it was 95-percent certain Marrone would stay, I should have known he’d be walking away.)
It wasn’t known that Marrone, if he chose to leave, would walk away with his full salary for 2015. According to ESPN, that’s precisely the term he negotiated when he became the coach two years ago. Marrone gets $4 million for 2015, with no offset if he takes another job in football for next season.
