Agent's Take: The extinction of the high-priced running back
“Some people think football is a matter of life and death. I assure you, it's much more serious than that.” --- Bill Shankly
Re: Agent's Take: The extinction of the high-priced running
The next running back that gets paid like Adrian Peterson (or more) will be the next running back who is a threat to take it to the house every time he touches the ball.
A threat like that will always get paid big bucks ... the position doesn't matter.
The NFL is really trending towards hybrid players anyway. They're necessary for deception on offense. As a result there are a lot of players who could probably play either position. I imagine at some point WR and RB should be about equal in compensation and the distinction will be almost trivial as they're lined up all over the field.
