Post Packers = Saints
They are a high powered offense that hates Brett Favre, and engaged in many shootouts but fell short. In one year, their defense managed to make enough plays and tighten things up enough to get them to the Super Bowl. Because of that people described them as the makings of a dynasty and multiple time SB champion, but their offense isn't as high powered as it used to be and the defense hasn't come close to their SB year and they failed to repeat championship success. And now there they are, a team capable of putting up points and sporting a winning record, but not a real threat to win the SB anymore.

Am I describing the Packers, Saints, or both!!!!! The Packers are a year or two behind the Saints in this pattern, but it is the same. The Packers time in the sun is done, just like the Saints is too. new powers are rising and they aren't in GB or NO!

Has any team looked worse in their last two home games than the Packers? They struggled in both to just keep the game close enough to keep their fans from streaming to the exits.

And have they learned anything by it? Jarrett Bush is the latest Packer to proclaim their most recent loss was "beating themselves", just like Matthews vs the Giants, instead of acknowledging they need to make some changes. Swagger can get you far, but pure arrogance will get you losses, just ask the 2010 and 2011 Jets.

That conclusion seems a bit premature one game into the season. They led the league in scoring last year with 560 points. That's considerably better than the 388 points they scored in 2010, the year they won the Super Bowl so unless their performance on Sunday against what is probably one of the best defensive teams in the NFL proves typical, I think it's too early to say their offense isn't as high-powered as it used to be... when "used to be" essentially means last season.

That may be true and I sincerely hope it's true because I really don't want them to get anywhere near the Super Bowl but it still seems too early to make such declarations. We'll learn a lot more about the Packers when they host the Bears this Thursday. Personally, I hope the Bears clobber them. I love the thought of Green Bay starting 0-2 and then going on the road to play a MNF game at Seattle, followed by a home game against the team you compared them too: the Saints.

Green Bay definitely has some issues to resolve and i think they've been seriously over-hyped but I'm not quite willing to rule them out as a Super Bowl contender yet.

When I was a kid I tended to hate teams, I don't really feel that way anymore but I usually hope the Packers lose.

However one feels about the Pack, when they are in town, you seem to know it, there is electricity in the air especially if it is Monday night. I dont' think this exists too much with other teams, maybe once in a while. Maybe when Ditka coached the Bears, the Bears may have a little of that.

If one side is much better than the other and there are lopsided victories, that seems to quell the rivalry a bit.

would you rather have the saints be 0-4 or the packers 1-3? I can't stand either team, so this is a tough choice. Anytime the packers lose is good, so i would rather have the saints win and push the packers to 1-3.

The Packers are one of the youngest teams in the NFL - younger than the Vikings, even. It's hard to imagine that more than a handful of players on that team ever played with or against Brett Favre.

You gotta hope the Packers go 1-3. I know the Saints are dirty scum who stole our Super Bowl but the Packers are in division and the thing is, I'm 26. AKA, older than a typical Packers player, right? I'm old enough to remember the Green Bay Packers led by the Anti-Christ Favre, The Beast Reggie White and The Horn That Speaks For Them And Seduces All The White People Away From Carter Righteous To Packers Evil, Don Beebe.

If the Vikings can't win my immediate request is for the Packers to lose. Always.

I know this isn't really a Viking thread, but it's pretty significant for us.

Brees is desperate for a win. He'll pull it out. 27-23

I know I am new here, but could I request these types of thread be moved to NLF Talk board. This board should be about the Vikings, period.

How can Joe Buck talk with Rodgers' nutsack in his mouth? I haven't heard ball washing this hardcore since every time Madden called a Favre game.

Joe Buck's announcing is basically gay pornography.

I like the game other than that. I typically mute a game when one announcer loves a player so much that his commentary will be how much he loves that player.

I was only jokin'.

I think they have called a good game.. There is the normal GB bias, but overall not too overly mushy.

I think it's still too early to say but it depends on what you're talking about. I never bought the dynasty talk in the first place and I agree that their defense is questionable. I believed that going into the season. However, their best receiver (and Rodgers' favorite target) has been missing or hobbled all season and they opened against 3 of the league's current top 5 defenses (SF, Chicago and Seattle) so I think those factors have influenced their performance on offense. They have some problems, that's for sure, but with the talent they have, I think it's too early to completely rule them out as a contender. They definitely shouldn't be a favorite anymore and their offense isn't what it was a year or two ago but as much as I'd like to, I can't write them off after 5 games, especially when they should really be sitting at 3-2, not 2-3. They're 1-0 against the division, which helps them, but they're 2-2 in the conference, which could hurt them.

Hopefully, the Bears and Vikes will compete for the division (and the Vikes will win it) while GB and Detroit continue to struggle!

Jim
