 Rice goes on I.R.
One of the best non-moves we made. Glad WE didn't overpay. 5-year, $41 million ($18.5 million guaranteed). Played 15 out of 32 games the last two seasons. Quote: Pete Carroll said Seahawks will place WR Sidney Rice (concussion) on injured reserve today. Adam Schefter on Twitter

Wow. I was one who wanted Rice over Greenway, was I ever wrong. Luckily for Seattle, they still have TJ to save the day!!!

Made. Of. Glass.
I doubt he'll still be in the league at 30 years old.

 Re: Rice goes on I.R.
I'm happy with the decision the Vikings made ... but I hate to hear that about Rice.
Aside from his injuries he seemed like a good guy. I hate to see his career go the way it has especially with so much potential.

 Re: Rice goes on I.R.
Carroll comment from this article: http://profootballtalk.nbcsports.com/20 ... n-is-over/Quote: “We’re just trying to do the right thing and protect our guy,” Carroll said. “We love him and he’s a great kid in the program. We know he won’t get hurt again, so we’ll get him strong and ready for next year.” We know he won't get hurt again....huh?! I think ol' Pete has a serious issue with historical facts. First he claims that TJack got a raw deal in Minnesota and was never given a fair shot, then he says the team knows Rice won't get hurt again? What kind of retarded statement is that?

 Re: Rice goes on I.R.
Concussions are much different from other injuries. In the future we're going to see a lot more players being placed on IR after suffering multiple concussions in a short time span during the season.

^I had the same thought. Look at Jahvid Best; I doubt he'll be back this year.

In addition to Rice and Best there's Hussain Abdullah and Kris Dielman. Austin Collie last year. I'm sure there have been more and the trend will continue to grow.

He must be related to Randoll Smith since Sidney and Randoll are both made of glass

 Re: Rice goes on I.R.
Suddenly, that concussion that kept him out of the final game in 2010 no one talked about seems a lot more significant. At least he got paid, going to the one team willing to pay him was the best business decision for him. I just hope he lasts the full length of his contract. Sad though, probably a 5th round pick at best.
Good work there, Seattle.

I don't get how one can be labeled "made of glass" because of multiple concussions. It's a traumatic brain injury, how exactly is that preventable by anyone?

He had a labrum injury in his shoulder early in the season but it was two concussions a few weeks apart that put him on IR.

 Re: Rice goes on I.R.
Sidney Rice had surgery in the off season on BOTH shoulders. The Seahawks drafted WR Golden Tate out of Notre Dame in the 2nd round, signed Antonio Bryant in the offseason and now just signed Braylon Edwards to shore up their receiving corps.
I hope Rice can recover, but yeah, it was a wise decision for the Vikings to let him walk.

I hope Rice can recover, but yeah, it was a wise decision for the Vikings to let him walk. ESPECIALLY for the money Seattle paid him. So is Rice out for awhile with the surgeries?

 Re: Rice goes on I.R.
He's been practicing, but they had him wearing a red jersey to open camp, so nobody would touch him. I think they're also hoping the NFL will allow him to wear that jersey when the regular season begins.
