there is no evidence seau had a mental illness

Have you been paying any attention whatsoever to the brain research that's been going on the last couple of years? It will be shocking if Seau did not have the same brain damage that numerous other deceased players have been found to have.

I know some people, maybe there opinion is learned and they are saying the NFL will have to change. Something is wrong, the brain or something. Obviously.

It's nothing more than speculation that brain injuries were the reason for Junior Seau's suicide. Many people suffer from depression and mental disorders without ever having had a concussion.

I have no problem believing that Seau may have suffered some traumatic brain injury while playing football, nor that brain injuries have been linked to mental disorders in in ex-football players. But beyond that, it's pure conjecture.

Quote:
unior Seau, one of the NFL's best and fiercest players for nearly two decades, had a degenerative brain disease when he committed suicide last May, the National Institutes of Health told The Associated Press on Thursday.

JUNIOR SEAU: 1969-2012
Take a look back at the career of the former All-Pro linebacker.

Results of an NIH study of Seau's brain revealed abnormalities consistent with chronic traumatic encephalopathy (CTE).

''The brain was independently evaluated by multiple experts, in a blind fashion,'' said Dr. Russell Lonser, who oversaw the study. ''We had the opportunity to get multiple experts involved in a way they wouldn't be able to directly identify his tissue even if they knew he was one of the individuals studied.''

I heard they are saying maybe in layman's terms, his brain suffered repetitively.

Just bumping this news up.

No problem. I expected this to be the result of their finding. While I believe the league is culpable and they along with the NFLPA needs to take better care of inactive/retired players, I believe that many players would still play knowing the risks involved.

It will be interesting to see what the result of the lawsuit against the NFL is...
