I follow the draft pretty heavily and combine.

The NFL draft is late again this year, and they have moved it to Chicago IL as talked about last year.

Here is the venue location link

The venue looks nice.

Did they say why they moved it to Chicago?

Because Chicago is awesome. :)

From what I understand, the NFL wants to move it around the country to give more fans an opportunity to experience the draft in person.

One of the reasons Chicago got it is because Mayor Emanuel made a pitch to create a fan festival in Grant Park:

... a component that previously has not been featured in NFL drafts, a source said. That proved to be the “major selling point” that won Chicago the event, said the source, who added that Goodell also found Chicago’s central location and rabid football fan base as major pluses.

“This site is a big leap because it’s different” for the NFL, the City Hall source said. “We worked hard to show Grant Park could be used as a major fan activation site like nothing they’ve done before.”

Emanuel pitched Grant Park as the location for network television studios covering the draft as well as an interactive fan zone, with various activities similar to those that have been held in cities hosting the Super Bowl, sources said.
It sounds pretty cool. The one time I was able to attend a Super Bowl, the fan festival outside of the stadium was a blast so this event in Grant Park could be great fun.

Radio City Music hall and the NFL had a lot of scheduling issues and the hall in New York wouldn't work with
them, to the extent, the NFL wanted. So they explored other options and Chicago and L.A.. When your
multi billion dollar industry it is wise to use leverage you have in business deals.

I thought it was so more people would have the chance to Boo at Goodell.

Booing at Rodger is a side bonus, for buying a ticket...

ESPN should have a contest where the winner gets to be miked up at home and his BOOS will be heard live at the draft.

I think the NFL should have a fans war room where winners of a contest get to represent their teams in a mock draft, to see how their draft would match up against the teams draft and then get to re-visit the next year to see how their players did versus what the teams drafted.
:wallbang:  :nono:
If they come up with this, I want royalties.
