I Have To Say

As long as Ponder wasn't running from a blitz backwards and trying to throw it, he was not too bad. A little more getting used to the receivers, he looks like he could be a keeper.

This is an example of a post that can go in a normal part of the forum :P

I was going to ask what he looked like to an "outsider", so Im glad you said that. I hope he shows improvement every week!

Its like I watched a completely different game. I expected him to be bad, it was his first game, so Im not alarmed or shocked, but I didnt think he looked good at all. He made a couple plays, but almost every QB makes a couple plays, every game. He was inaccurate and played a D who is ranked 31st in passing yards allowed, so all of this "He did great vs the world champs" is kinda bs. They are TERRIBLE against the pass, only the Pats are worse, they allow more yards passing against them than the Vikings do, and everyone on this site thinks our secondary is horrendous.

As I said, its one game, and his first game, so I have no idea if he is a keeper or not, and wouldnt know that even if he looked terrific vs the Packers, but I sure didnt think he looked any better than McNabb has, and he has stunk. I think fans are just clinging to hope that he is the answer. Looked just like a rookie making his first start, unimpressive, as expected.

Anybody find it a bit odd I see signs of hope in Ponder, and a Vikings fan doesn't?

I got flack from trying to take up for Ponder on here. I had hope to but honestly the man just doesn't have the mental tools to succeed. I don't know how many games of Ponder you watched but he is horrible. He glues his eyes to his first read, doesn't bother to read through his progressions, and gets happy feet in the pocket when pressured. Yeah he may have had a few good games in his career, like the one game against the Packers to get us into the playoffs in 2012. But he will NEVER consistently play that good.

Most Vikings fans here are critical of Ponder. If you're going to stick up for a player, Ponder is the WRONG guy. lol

Someone dredged up a 2 1/2 year old thread. There's no reason to continue this foolishness.
