WRs in Draft
In this coming draft I think the Vikings should pick an OL and a CB in the first round, but IF we were to go WR which one should it be? I'm so torn over this. I'm going to assume that Lamb, Jeudy, and Ruggs are gone. So....
Jefferson super productive but possibly slot only
Mims modest production but workout warrior at combine and great Senior Bowl
Higgins big but IMO too slow
Shenault just look at him. Imposing physical specimen. Not only top WR, but wildcat QB and short yardage rushing specialist.
Reagor Blazing speed, incredible athlete, can outjump any CB, but somewhat limited ball skills.
If we do draft a WR in the first which of these should it be? I doubt even one of them will be available in the 2nd round.

As a Sooners fan, I really want Lamb but I know he will be gone so I would take Chase Claypool and I would not be surprised if Claypool is a Viking since Speilman loves Notre Dame players

I don't think Spielman cares what school they are from. I wouldn't take Claypool in the first, but would Love him in the second.RandyMoss84 wrote: ↑Thu Apr 02, 2020 5:06 pm As a Sooners fan, I really want Lamb but I know he will be gone so I would take Chase Claypool and I would not be surprised if Claypool is a Viking since Speilman loves Notre Dame players

What about waiting till the mid rounds for both SMU receiver Proche and maybe Collin Johnson from Texas...maybe in the first few rounds concentrate on our lines.

He probably thought they were the best prospect at the time. I don't buy for one second the idea that we draft players based on the school they went to.RandyMoss84 wrote: ↑Thu Apr 02, 2020 6:17 pmIf he did not care what school they are from then he would not have drafted a bunch of Notre Dame players, same with UCLAVikingsVictorious wrote: ↑Thu Apr 02, 2020 5:19 pm

We need better than those. Nope I'm not on board with that at all. If we are drafting a WR named Johnson it better be Tyler.

Re: WRs in Draft
Nope it doesn't. It's just what I believe. Barr was worthy of the pick when we drafted him and Kendricks was worth of the pick when we drafted him and Rudy was worthy of the pick when we drafted him. The school simply didn't matter at all.RandyMoss84 wrote: ↑Thu Apr 02, 2020 6:49 pmIf that makes you sleep better at nightVikingsVictorious wrote: ↑Thu Apr 02, 2020 6:26 pm

Re: WRs in Draft
We have Barr and kendricks from UCLA and Rudy and Harry from Notre dame. I agree with VV I don’t think school really matters. When they drafted kendricks I’m guessing that him playing with Barr in college was just a cherry on top. I doubt it was because he went to UCLARandyMoss84 wrote: ↑Thu Apr 02, 2020 6:17 pmIf he did not care what school they are from then he would not have drafted a bunch of Notre Dame players, same with UCLAVikingsVictorious wrote: ↑Thu Apr 02, 2020 5:19 pm

Rumor has it we’re looking to trade up. Everyone is counting out Jeudy and Lamb. They aren’t falling to 22 but we can definitely get them on a trade up. If we trade up for lamb, I’ll run naked down my streetRandyMoss84 wrote: ↑Thu Apr 02, 2020 5:06 pm As a Sooners fan, I really want Lamb but I know he will be gone so I would take Chase Claypool and I would not be surprised if Claypool is a Viking since Speilman loves Notre Dame players

Re: WRs in Draft
Of course, the draft is like a box of chocolates - you never know what you're going to get. But as a general rule and given where the Vikings are right now in terms of both their lines, I think it makes sense to look at OL/DL players with those first two picks if suitable players are there. Good passing defenses start with good pressure, and good offenses likewise have effective blockers who can open holes in the run game and protect the QB in the passing game. Last year the Vikings were pretty poor against the pass and pretty inconsistent running and passing when on offense. They have gaping needs at both OG positions now and likewise could use a LT. On defense they're lacking an interior run stuffing tackle and are shaky at RDE. While they have needs at WR and CB, even drafting top flight talent at those positions won't fix the immediate problems there if the DL can't get pressure and the OL can't pass block.

Re: WRs in Draft
Lamb is the one that I want, but it depends on the cost. If it's our 25 and second round pick I could live with that. If it's our 22 2nd and 3rd I couldn't.Pondering Her Percy wrote: ↑Thu Apr 02, 2020 6:56 pmRumor has it we’re looking to trade up. Everyone is counting out Jeudy and Lamb. You would live with it if Vikings gave up #22, 2nd and 3rd picks and Lamb ends up being one of the greatest Vikings ever and goes into the Hall of FameVikingsVictorious wrote: ↑Thu Apr 02, 2020 7:14 pmLamb is the one that I want, but it depends on the cost.
