The only other option I think that's available for the Redskins is if we trade Harris and a 3rd for Trent and move Reiff to Guard, but I believe that might be a little more shortsighted than simply trading Reiff and a 3rd.
We don't give them Harris and a 3rd. That is first round pick equivalent.

It's funny, no one here wants Reiff and yet we think Washington will jump on him and his overpaid contract. I don't want Williams anyway, he's too old, costs too much, and hasn't played a full season in forever. He's a short term upgrade when this team needs to look long term. RT's are easy to find in the upcoming rounds and O'Neil should be able to play LT if he's as good as everyone thinks he is.
They aren’t moving O’Neill to LT. Pretty sure Zim already spoke on it.

As for Williams, I don’t think he’s a short term option at all. Jason Peters was still playing at a high level at 38. Thomas could’ve played forever. Tyron Smith will play a long time. These elite tackles have a history of playing at a high level for a long time. Williams having a year off probably helped him health wise if anything. It would be tough to find a long term LT at this point in the draft. I’m not sure if there is even a long term right tackle at this point. Some possibilities but they are far from a sure thing.

And as for Reiff, he’s an average tackle. Washington has no tackle right now and plenty of cap room. That’s an easy stop gap for them.

If Redskins refused to accept Reiff and 3rd round pick, call the deal off and draft offensive line
If that isn't good enough we have to bail out. It would be a shame.

Too old? Williams is just 31 years old, I rather have Williams than Peters who is 38 years old
I don't want Peters either.

The Skins have more leverage in this than many folks think. Trent is worth more playing for the Skins this year than what they are likely to get for him. I don't think they consider themselves to be desperate here. If they keep him he pretty much has to play and play well for them if he wants out next year. He will be on his last year of contract and will be playing for his next one. He wants a lot of money, so he'll be forced to perform. If Brucifer was still there, they would keep him out of spite. Not sure spite is a good enough reason though. Unclear how the new regime feels about spite.
I wouldn't stake my life on him not playing for them, but I would be shocked. All that holding on to him will do is hurt both him and them. If the Vikings are low-balling them they need to stop.
I don't think its good for either party. But that's how the Skins do things. Well, who knows now. We'll see if FO changes make a difference.

I really wanted Williams. But it really feels like if it wasn’t done by now it’s not going to happen. What we can’t do is lose out on Williams and one of the FEW remaining decent OT options left. We need to move up pronto if we’re not going for T.Will.

I don't think Williams has the same durability as those mentioned. He hasn't played 16 games since 2013. In fact, he's only done it twice in his entire career. Joe Thomas played 16 games in every single season up until his last year. 10 seasons in a row. Peters played 16 games in 4 out of the last 7 years.

FSL, you have a great perspective on Washington as we both have followed them for years. Any feel for Danny’s spite level and ego these days?
Danny boy has been very quiet. Not a peep. No leaks, no backstabbing mean girl stuff. It was either all Brucifer or he was just doing Danny's bidding. There is much debate on that.

Yeah but the point is, 31 years old isn’t “old” for a LT

But I’ve said this before, Id take 13-14 games from Williams and having to start rashod hill 2-3 weeks of the season any day. Having elite protection and run blocking 13-14 games in the season is much better than never, ever having it on the left side.

He'll be in his 10th season, that is definitely getting up there. Especially compared to a tackle coming out of college. Why would be trade and pay a big contract to a guy we know can't make it a full season?

Sounds contradictory to say he's not old and he's a Joe Thomas on one hand and then admit we'll probably be starting Rashod Hill for 20% of the season on the other.

I don’t think that is necessarily it. It could be a 3rd. Either way, they are running out of options so they are going to have to cave at some point. I wouldn’t mind sending the later of the two 3rds we have. But I think we’re almost forced to include a player unless we’re planning on a post June 1 cut for reiff. If a player is included, we’d have to give up less pick wise. But by the sounds of it we’re only offering picks

The redskins are desperate. Williams has said he literally won’t play another down for the redskins. So in turn, the redskins either get nothing for him and continue to pay him or actually get something out of it.

No one is giving them a second, third round is the best that the Redskins will get for Williams , Things may get interesting later tonight.

My understanding is that he is under contract. If they don't trade him he can't do anything about it. If he doesn't play, he doesn't get paid. So he can choose to not get paid another year I guess. He lost a lot last year. He is not in control.
