Just rewatched clips of the game last night. Barr was put in bad situations, but he made bad plays in those situations (and bad plays when he was in good positions). I don't have the capabilities to post GIFs, but just looking at all 3 TDs scored on Barr last night, he stood still with his shoulders parallel to the endzone wayyy too long when Woods, Kupp, and Gurley were already sprinting by him.

On the Gurley TD, it looks like Barr was anticipating Gurley going to the flat so Barr just stood still while Gurley sprinted right past him. Add to that a delayed reaction and it was an easy TD. Good situation for Barr, played it poorly.

On the Kupp TD, Mac passed his coverage (or broke out of his coverage) to Barr and Barr was late to react to Kupp on the crossing pattern. Bad situation, maybe nothing Barr could have done on this one, still played it poorly.

On the Woods TD, Barr keeps his stance WAYYY too long especially since he's covering a WR. Maybe Barr was supposed to have help over the top, but Barr was really only playing an out route or a curl with no anticipation of any other route. Bad situation, played poorly.

So he's either anticipating the wrong route (bad prep), hesitant to adjust (slow), or has bad technique. No matter what the issue is, he's garbage.

Look. We could have the next ray lewis mixed with patrick willis and still not be able to leave them in coverage against wrs and rbs as much as we did. Yeah he played them bad whatever, even if he plays it perfect hes out matched in that situation. Hell our cbs even our star and one of best in league rhodes has how many deflected or broken passes? Yet we think a 6'5" 250 plus linebacker is going to look fluent in pass coverage?

Barr chose to cover Woods and got killed. He moved HIll to the RB and took the WR.

With all this Barr talk it makes me wonder. Was there a possibility we could of gotten Kahlil Mack?

Barr just looks lazy and like he can't get past 3rd gear. You never see him turn it loose, at any point in his whole career.

I think it'd be possible, yes. Especially if Barr was part of the trade so that the Raiders would have a replacement. Would probably mean only mid-low draft picks involved. Barr is still a valuable player that would probably command a 1st round himself if he was up for trade - especially around the time Mack was traded before he started having the year he's having.

I think one of the big reasons we didn't is because Barr is a Zimmer guy. I think he believes in him and wants him on the team. There's also the contract. There's a lot of money tied up in the defense already. Of course if Barr plays well we will have to pay him too but that would be a good thing. You'd rather have a good player that already knows the team.
