• Undrafted rookie cornerback Holton Hill has gained plenty of attention through the first couple days of training camp. The former Texas Longhorn recorded a couple of flashy pass breakups on Sunday, including a perfectly timed leap to deflect a pass deep down the middle intended for Brandon Zylstra. Stefon Diggs didn’t hesitate to praise Hill when speaking with the media after practice. “As a cornerback you can see that he has confidence. I love him because I like what he brings to the table. [He has] body control. And he’s not a small guy. He can run. He’s a special talent and you can see flashes of it.” Of course, Diggs finished by saying he’ll keep “barbecuing” Hill when they match up in camp.

• Anthony Barr spent a lot of time rotating in with the defensive line group, whether it be in 11-on-11 or in positional drills. It suggests the coaching staff has thought extensively about letting him rush the passer from a three-point stance this season.

• Diggs looks like a superstar. He opened the Rhodes with a crisp double move that created roughly four yards of separation deep downfield. Unfortunately, Kirk Cousins overthrew him.

• That throw was pretty much the only throw Cousins missed. He’s been money so far.

There's speculation the Vikings will run some sort of "4-3 under" scheme similar to what the Seahawks run, putting Barr closer to the LOS to cover the D gap. I was reading up on it the other day and it sounds like they have the right personnel for it. You need a solid 1-tech to take on double teams (Linval), a 3-tech penetrator with a quick first step (Richardson), and fairly athletic ends that are good against the run. Your WILL needs to be rangy (Kendricks) and your Mike has to have good instincts (Gedeon). Emphasis on corners are to be bigger, more physical guys, that are solid tacklers. FS gets to roam a lot, which Harrison already does. SS has similar freedom but with a bit less flexibility.

Odd, I read another report that said they both missed from long range. Even saw a video of Carlson bouncing one off the upright.

I think it is saying they were perfect but just I side that range rather than altogether.

Treadwell wins the day
Wide receiver Laquon Treadwell won my award for best player on the practice field during Monday’s afternoon session. He started the day by smoothly cutting out of his break to make a tip-toe grab on the sidelines vs. Terence Newman. He was gaining separation in the drills against Trae Waynes, Mackensie Alexander and Xavier Rhodes, too. In fact, his most notable rep came during the red zone 7-on-7 drill. He ran a beautiful corner route to the back of the end zone. Treadwell was able to gain separation at the stem with a little physicality to make the contested grab. Of course, in the spring there was hype surrounding Treadwell’s growth, but it garnered plenty of skepticism. Early in camp, it's easy to see the coaches have more confidence in him. He has been running with the first team unit in 3-WR sets and showed he could get separation against some of the team’s best corners on Monday. This is a great development for the 2016 first-round pick, who has struggled to run crisp routes in the past. He’s worth watching throughout camp and the preseason as the Vikings continually push him.

Man, this is good to hear. I know it's not a "real" game situation, but building confidence against players such as Rhodes and them in camp should reflect improvement against other opponents during the season.

I want Treadwell to be successful. I think everyone knew the talent is there, but mentally was what he needed to focus on more. It sounds like that aspect is improving in year 3. Finally. If he can bring it all together it intensifies the possibilities for the offense.

I agree with what your saying. One report said they had 6 FG tries and then nothing more.
What I posted said they was 4x4 from 32-46 yards. And they must have omitted the longer misses.

He ran a nice route and Cousins put the ball high and away where only Treadwell could snag it. Rhodes was in coverage. I really hope he turns the corner, at least as a redzone threat.

So Elflein on PUP, Hill is food poisoned, and Remmers is now questionable. They've had the pads on for two practices and 60% of our line is banged up. Even if everyone comes back before the start of the season, there will be no time to gel. More worrisome with a new QB and OL coach(es)....
