I think the Vikings can and will win the game. This team built almost specifically to handle the great QBs in this pass-happy league. Him being back on the team makes them a lot better but I think they have too many other holes for him to make up for it all up, especially with this defense that won't make it easy on him.

I imagine you think the Packers will take it? ;)

I think the biggest change is we finally don't have to play in Lambeau in December. The "frozen tundra" aspect of home field advantage is taken away for this game. Also, Aaron Jones will be suspended.

There's a lot of unknowns going into this game. On the Vikings side, it's mainly offense. How good will Cousins look, our new OC, and our restructured O-line that is now absent a coach. For the Packers, I hate to focus only on Rodgers but one has to wonder how he'll perform with revenge on his mind. The other big unknowns is how the running game will be impacted by Jones and how your young secondary will fare.

My obviously biased opinion is the Vikings should win this game. This was the #1 defense last year that only got stronger with the addition of Sheldon Richardson. I think Cousins while not great, will be an upgrade and has a lot of weapons around him. Plus there's the return of Dalvin Cook. On paper this game favors the Vikings but any given Sunday and all of that. It should be a good one.

I think we lucked out to get an early season game in Lambeau. I am sure Rogers will be seeking revenge on some level and division games are always close. However, I do expect the Vikings to win. It’s hard to break down the game at this early date, but this should be the toughest Viking opponent your Packers have faced since the Zimmer era began. Our biggest question early will be how our new offensive pieces gel. Fortunately this matchup is good for us as defense will likely not be your strong point.

What are the thoughts in Packers land?

I hope Barr and Erin meet again. Erin hates being pressured, its when he makes mistakes. And one part of the Vikings game that should be improved is the D line.

It is week two, so all bets are off as to how this one will play out. Nobody knows how Cousins and the new offense will look, it could be firing on all cylinders or still looking for an identity at that point. Our defense was designed to stop the prolific passers of the NFCN in Stafford and Rogers. If our secondary is healthy I think Rogers will have trouble moving the ball.

Making mistakes and correcting them is what training camp is about tho, as much as I enjoy seeing Rodgers throw an interception ...

Do I think the Vikes can win?

The Vikings have won 2 of the past 3 division championships and 4 of the past 6 games against Green Bay. So yeah, I think they can win.

Maybe the question should be, "Does anybody outside of Green Bay think the Packers can win?"

Pete Prisco picked the Packers to win the Superbowl.

I guess it is "possible" that GB goes 12-4, but it sure doesn't seem likely right now. Starting a bunch of young corners screams penalty flags, and that defense really isn't known for it's ability to prevent people from scoring. They've always been more about generating turnovers vs. punts.

Really, this is just lazy journalism IMO. GB has not been a dominate franchise the last 4 seasons. In 2015 they went 10-6, assisted by a hail mary win by Roger against DET after a garbage penalty at the end of regulation. They got lucky and pulled a weak WSH team in the wild card round which they beat (we pulled SEA...) and then went to AZ where despite Roger's horseshoe, they lost.

In 2016 they started 4-6, but then rallied into the playoffs by beating an over-achieving Lions team week 17 to clinch the NFCCN. They then pulled a suspect Giants team which they routed in Lambeau on account of terrible special teams play by the Giants. (it was hideous.) They then went to DAL and crushed an upstart Cowboys team with no pass defense and Dak Prescott at QB.

In 2017, Rogers got hurt and they went 7-9.

So in the last three years they haven't come close to 12-4. But we are supposed to beleive that adding three rookie CB and an aged Jimmy Graham that they have found the magic formula to get the extra wins. I do not find this persuasive.

Rodgers is the wild card for me. If he plays well and the Packers protect him, the Packers have a very good chance of winning. I think if he's even average, the Vikings win, with the margin of victory depending in large part on how close to average Rodgers is in the game.

I just hope the game is injury-free for both teams. If the Vikings win, I want it to be because they are the better team and not because the other team's best player was knocked out of the game or worse, out for the rest of the season.
