The odds of winning it all are very small and with less continuity and more bodies to bring up to Viking speed..........well you get the drift. Spielmans done ok in some regards but holy lord i wish he would stock the team with solid players instead of wishful possibilities.
Do you really consider this a "swing for the fences" signing? I don't think we've even seen the contract parameters.

Its unlikely a sideways signing either. Jarius has a career 2,039 yards and 10 TDs. Kendall has 3,858 yards and 19 TDs. Both were drafted in the same year.

And how much more time did Kendall spend on the field, how many more passes thrown his way?

I already addressed this. Yes, he had a more prominent role. Thats a bigger knock on Jarius than anything in my book. Six years and you can't solidify the #3 spot? Just how many years should he have gotten?

Yeah, Idk. Something is fishy there. I am waiting for more info to figure out why he didn't play more.

He must not have been good enough on a consistent basis.

An undrafted player and 5th rounder are starting so it's not as if WRs on the Vikings don't get opportunities.

No, more of a silly signing.

Third down conversions have a lot of value and Jarius was Mr sure thing in that dept.

How can you say it was silly until we've seen the contract parameters? If we're paying him $6M per year, then I will certainly agree with you. If we're paying him $2M, then likely not (Treadwell makes just under $2M per year).

He was Mr sure thing but when? Three years ago? The last two seasons he's had 39 total catches the only "sure thing" about him these last two seasons is that he wouldn't be very involved.

I don't know if it's the coaches fault for how they used him or something he was or wasn't doing but he simply hasn't been valuable to this team in a while.

He had a terrible contract. Perhaps the worst not handed out to a draft pick under the Spielman/brezinski era. That there is still dead money on his contract at this point shows just how desperate the vikings were to retain some kind of semi-competent WR at that juncture, and just how empty the cupboard really was. He would probably still be around if he signed a more reasonable deal. Not that I blame him for cashing in, but when you are a borderline #3 #4 WR its sometimes best to take a longterm team friendly deal and you will wind up better off in the end.

I think Wright was just ready to move on.

Probably signing Kendall Wright will keep us from using an earlier pick for a WR in the draft.

Honestly, I think the Kendall Wright signing is more of a notice to Treadwell than Jarius. Both are similar in that they are not that quick but can go up and win contested passes. Both lack polish in their route running but exhibit above average hands. Treadwell is the bigger guy and better run blocker but Wright is shiftier and out jumps him. I think Jarius' replacement is Coley, Jones, or Zylstra.

What worries me is that jarious Wright made a lot seriously clutch catches at critical points in the ballgame over the years. Do we have anybody who does that as consistently and Often as Jarious Wright did? He was really clutch for us over the last few years. He didn't catch a balls but the ones he did were often at very critical moments. He always came through. I was shocked we let him go
