Last night it really hit home to me how great it is to have a back who's in the game all three downs. Watching Adrian on the sideline kind of reminded me of seeing Herschel Walker on the sidelines when it became apparent he wasn't the answer. I was kind of disappointed that Adrian felt he could get more somewhere else and left but it's time to turn the page. I'm glad now that we did. SKOL.

It's nice seeing what many of us speculated might be the case - this offense doesn't look too terrible when the line can hold up a bit. My hats off to WR Coach George Stewart. What he has done with a 5th rounder and undrafted guy is pretty terrific. The players themselves deserve praise, of course, but when you get players that are partially so good because of how technically sound they are that's good coaching to me. I'm interested (nervous?) to see how they look against a better defense.

I think the defense played very well against one of the better offenses in the league and that bodes well. Very solid all around I thought.

Already missing extra points ><;

I think Treadwell's emergence will be key once they start facing quality DBs. Luckily there are not that many quality DBs in the NFL right now and a good chunk of them wear Purple.

Not to nitpick but George Stewart isnt our WRs coach anymore  It's Darrell Hazell. However, Stewart is the one that originally started with these guys

Wow ... there goes my brain. I didn't even realize he was replaced this season. When I searched the vikings site he's still listed lol

I'm sticking to it though, he did a good job lol

Not to be a negative nancy. But remember; according to last years stats we put up a nearly *exactly* average offense display against the Saints.

I don't think it's negative.

There needs to be some sobriety around it all. Still, an average offense is leaps better than what was on the field last season....and if the vikes are displaying that in week 1 with a completely retooled line, then there is plenty of reason for optimism, IMO.

My lucky jersey is now 3-0. I'd totally understand if you guys start a crowd funding to get me to every game.

The one negative thing I'll say is the majority of the running plays that went negative was when NO stacked 7 sometimes 8 in the box. Sam needs to audible out and get it to his WRs. Diggs and Thielen both showed they can fight for the ball.

You could definitely see those 3's confidence rising as the game went on. Also, I liked that Shrmur played to win and not to lose. He did a good job of moving the clock but also going for 1st downs.

I am thrilled we ended the game pushing for first downs, not settling for punts. I am sure the defense appreciates it.

It was a refreshing sight to see Sam Bradford stand upright for most of the night. I thought the oline protected him efficiently. I think if that continues Sam can be borderline elite with that type of offensive line production and protection.

Traveled up from Chicago for Game 1. Outstanding game and outstanding play by Thielen, Diggs, Bradford, Cook, Griffen, Kendrick, Joseph, Smith, and even Waynes -- not to mention a solid showing by the O-line. Really loved to see the Vikes stifle the Saints' running game. Thielen was SO clutch. I don't recall exactly how many 3rd down grabs he had, but it seemed like it was at least 4 (including the one where he stretched, but came up just short of getting a 1st down). Loved the smart play by Gedeon when he bumped Peterson off balance on the goal line on third down following a play-action fake and roll-out by Brees, leaving Brees with no receiver in the area and nowhere to throw the ball. Waynes did a nice job fighting off blocks and making open-field tackles, and his coverage was solid. A couple of highlight defensive plays by Smith. Kendrick had the two strongest plays for the Vikes' defense on the Saints' first drive. Great to see Cook with some break-out runs. IIRC, the Vikes had only five runs of 15 yards or more all last season. Cook had two for over 30 yesterday and two more for 10 yards each. After zero 100-yard rushing games for the Vikings in 2016, it's awesome to see Cook start the season with the best debut for a RB in Vikings' history.

Kendricks had a heck of a game. He's a star.

Barr was invisible (to me on the plays I focused on him). I still want to see more, particularly in coverage and rushing. Maybe I'm used to his splashy 2015 but I need to see Barr make more of those individual splash plays.

Did my eyes deceive me or was Mac playing some on the outside when Rhodes went out? I didn't notice him much, which is a very good thing.

Waynes...ugh. I'll give him to the bye to impress me and start not sucking but I'm pretty sure I saw a stat that Brees completed all but one pass in his coverage. I'm about to call for Mac on the outside and Brock in the slot. Waynes is shaping up as a bust. His awareness and ball skills are non-existent.

Hey Jet, I know you housed one in the preseason, but how about not returning every kick 9 yards deep in your end zone? Just a thought. I also thought special teams blocking was pretty poor.

Bradford was amazing. That pass to Wright might've been the best I've ever seen. Amazing what he can do with protection and legit weapons.

AT and Diggs are so good. Diggs can be a top-10 receiver this year. AT can be up there, too. They won't always be that effective but my lord...I can't recall seeing two Vikings receivers that open that consistently since Carter and our newest Ring of Honor inductee.

Reiff made me have optimism! He'll face tougher tests but he was awesome. Nice debut from Elflein. Remmers was better than I thought he'd be for this one anyway. Easton was spotty but not consistently terrible. Not a great job run blocking for the unit as a whole but a step in the right direction.

Cook...heck of a debut. I can't wait to watch more of him.

Hitman had a solid game and I didn't hate Sendejo.

I honestly thought Griffen/Hunter would do a bit more terrorizing. Maybe my expectations were too high vs. those spotty tackles.

Joseph was great and Tom Johnson didn't suck at the point of attack! How about that. I still want to see Jalel in there this year.

Overall a fun game to watch. 1-0.
