 Re: 2017 Roster Cuts Thread
The defensive line depth is a lengthy one. Hard to make that cut. I thought Will Sutton would have a chance to get in the rotation. He will lock on with someone else I'm sure.

Price was awful this preseason. I am worried about Alexander... He may make the team but will he be active much?

Sent from my LG-H872 using Tapatalk Yes. He was going to start at nickel corner until they signed Brock. Now not sure.

Kai wins the kicker competition. Koehn cut.

Quote: @christomasson Taylor Heinicke on injured reserve If there's injury settlement then can't come back at least three weeks But would have to clear waivers.

 Re: 2017 Roster Cuts Thread
Datone Jones - DL - Vikings Vikings placed DE Datone Jones on injured reserve with a shoulder injury, ending his season.
Jones was the 26th pick in the 2013 draft by the Packers. He flopped in Green Bay and signed with the Vikings in March. Jones may get an injury settlement at some point this fall once he gets healthy enough to play.

Love when guys like Bower make it. Good for him. He looked good. Quote: @christomasson Vikings four DTs will be Linval Joseph, Tom Johnson, Shamar Stephen, rookie Jaleel Johnson. 5 ends Griffen, Hunter, BRob, Weatherly, Bower

Wow that's a shocker. Yeah I thought we'd hold onto him at least one more year. I've always said I was high on Easton. Many didn't agree but obviously the coaches saw something they like

 Re: 2017 Roster Cuts Thread
Can't wait to see the " Boone is a failure and Spielman doesn't know what he's doing comments" So before that happens, I'll say, Boone was a pro bowler and still playing at a very high level when we signed him. It didn't work out here, injuries hit him, could've been blocking scheme. Either way, it wasn't a bad signing initially. Just didn't work out

His best years he was playing on a beast o-line and of the 3 big names was arguable the worst of the 3. When he has a good line he can do his part (kind of), if you want him to be your best player and lead the line your in trouble.

 Re: 2017 Roster Cuts Thread
Interesting about Boone. Wonder if we go Easton at LG (probably) or Berger at LG and Isidora at RG. Lineup looked better with Easton at LG tbh. Boone looked a bit injured.
Per Hasan, Greco on the market as well.

 Re: 2017 Roster Cuts Thread
Boone, Clemmings, Beavers and Kerin gone. At least they moved on from their mistakes. Though Kerin had a good camp ,just no room at guard and center. We actually have a whole new line this year with the exception of Berger who started at center last year.
With Boone the zone blocking scheme was his downfall. A ballsy move getting rid of him. I look for us to pick somebody up off of waivers

 Re: 2017 Roster Cuts Thread
Yeah I see Aviante Collins made it. He had some upside coming out as a tackle but went undrafted. I like how they're looking to get younger up front. Outside of Berger this line is pretty young

 Re: 2017 Roster Cuts Thread
the real issue last season was depth or the lack thereof. it remains to be seen if that situation is resloved. dumping clemmings and beavers was a good step IMO...boone? he wouldn't take a pay cut, could not stay healthy and shot his mouth of pretty regularly. good riddance i say....but it's unlikely they go the year without injuries and he would've have been solid depth.

True. Hill is great depth. I liked that we kept Collins so I do like our tackle depth. I was planning on Easton being the depth piece of the whole interior since he can play OG and C. Now he's starting so that leaves Isadora and Sirles pretty much. Not terrible but it great. Maybe Sirles is a better OG. Isadora looked solid in the preseason

 Re: 2017 Roster Cuts Thread
maybe they will snag another guy who gets cut? the browns let go of a guy today who can play both guard positions. forget his name. but aside from boone being gone, this group looks better to me on paper. hill is a significant upgrade over clemmings. no fusco and no replacing center/rt before week one. at the very least they are starting who they like from the getgo rather than scramble to replace phil and sully. was that last year? i can't keep track lol

I would have liked to have been in the room when Slick Rick asked Boone to take a pay cut. I bet Boone whispered all kinds of sweet nothing's in Ricks ear. Thus another reason Boone is probably gone.

I'm a little surprised that forbath made it over Koehn. I wonder if gherkin vikings were rebuilding if they would give the young stronger legged kicker.

 Re: 2017 Roster Cuts Thread
I'd be surprised if this is the final team, there could be a move or two made tomorrow. Collins being the most likely candidate to not make it to me. Not sure how I feel about Boone, we were looking like we had good interior depth, now it looks shaky. Maybe a cap casualty to sign someone else, we'll see.
Eric Wilson beating Edmond Robinson out of a job is a bit of a surprise given Robinson was the early favorite to take over for Greenway but Wilson was all over the field in preseason and likely deserved it.
It will also be interesting to see who they eventually cut for Floyd.

 Re: 2017 Roster Cuts Thread
I'm not sure how I feel about the Boone cutting. I get that the NFL is about value with the salary cap and clearly Boone's play did not match is pay grade. However with the complete dumpster fire of an OL last year I wouldn't have minded overpaying for some quality depth.
11 rookies (including 3 UDFA) made the team- over 20% of the roster. That seems high. Not sure if this is a reflection of a great rookie class or a very weak existing roster. Maybe a little bit of both.
I thought Robinson outplayed Lamur. A bit surprised by that one.

I really don't like them choosing Adams over Jones.....bit of a head scratcher because Adams looked to be a fail most of the preseason.
