Why Bucky Hodges fell to the 6th round

An interesting post about why Bucky Hodges (projected by some to go as high as the 3rd round) fell all the way to the 6th round: http://walterfootball.com/ws2017bhodges.php

Seems mostly to be because of his limited play style, in that he is just a straight line player.

I wasn't impressed with the pick for2 reasons:
1 his name is Bucky
2 he plays TE but lacks blocking skills....so he's another project on offense...or a gadget guy.
-
maybe he'll turn out to be a Jermaine Wiggins type as far as heart and effort goes. we'll see...

Should be a good fit for the offense at least.

After reading the article, I still don't know why he dropped. 3 sources? That's it?

Kieper had him as high as 1st-2nd at one point. He crushed the combine from what I've read.

The only common negative is his blocking skills but that was known before the draft. I mean, who cares if he needs work on his blocking. The mismatches he'll create against LBs and DBs and his ability to play above the rim is where his value lies.

I can google all day and all I can find is Bucky is a projected 2nd to 3rd round pick.

Projection: 2nd to 3rd round

It seems unlikely that Hodges would approach the first round, but a selection in the first 40 picks wouldn't surprise.

Bucky would be a great option in the third round(likely the second round if the Broncos want him).

and the list goes on...
CBS Sports has him as the #6 TE and #74 overall.
The potential is obvious for Hodges. When the dust settles, Hodges has Pro Bowl potential."
NFL.com's Chad Reuter has Hodges as the 7th TE off the board to Atlanta in the 3rd Round.
Draft Wire for USA Today has Bucky going as the 5th TE, after the big 3 and Adam Shaheen (Ashland). But it's late in the 3rd at 88 overall to the Raiders.
Da Windy City sees him as a 2nd rounder to eventually replace the often injured Zach Miller.

Interesting. Someone pointed this out on another forum. Notice anything?

The writer is a one-trick pony.

So the guy is like every other late round pick and needs to develop his game to match his physical talents in order to succeed in the NFL? The crisis here would be if they blew a 2nd or 3rd on him and that was the case.

Not sure how a TE can be a "gadget guy". That's more for smaller, speedy WRs. IMO, yeah having a guy that can block obviously helps but we needed an athletic TE to pair with Rudy and we have our blocking TE in Morgan. I think it was a low risk/high reward type pick

Any idea who the guy is who writes this? Any biases that we know of?

It sounds too good to be true. We're talking about a 6th-round draft choice. Could all the scouts be THAT wrong? I hope this turns out to be true, but it's hard to fathom.

Tom Brady was a sixth round guy I think.

John Randle was undrafted and made the HOF

I am not saying Hodges will come anywhere
close to those kinda things, but it does happen.

Look at Hunter late third round guy and has
the second most sacks out of his class.
